We love jigsaw puzzle games here at Family
Friendly Gaming. So when I heard about Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle on the
iPad I got excited. Could this game reach the levels of JigAPix? Would
it completely fall on its face? Or would it be somewhere in between.
Come with me on this review as we answer those questions and more.
The graphics in Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle are picture perfect. There are
so many scenes of beauty in this iPad game that I can barely contain
myself. The one drawback to such graphically intense images is they will
drain your battery. I found this to be true as I played Join It - Jigsaw
Puzzle. The puzzle pieces look fantastic, and putting a picture together
is so much fun. I like the picture being shown in the background. This
makes Join It
- Jigsaw Puzzle approachable by more members of the family.
Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle has soothing music, and fantastic special effect
sounds. My favorite is when a puzzle piece snaps into place. Join It -
Jigsaw Puzzle lets you know that you no longer need to work on that
puzzle piece. I found no offensive language in Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle.
In fact there are proclamations of love from a child to a parent which
is great to see.
The $4.99 price tag may seem steep at first. You do get multiple
pictures (130) that you can adjust the number of pieces. Join It -
Jigsaw Puzzle lets family members do 300 piece puzzles. Family members
can enjoy Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle together or one at a time. Family
Friendly Gaming was provided a reviewable copy of Join It - Jigsaw
Puzzle. With that said, I do feel that Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle is worth
the price. Expect additional pictures to be added in the future.
All jigsaw video games have one bar to reach. That bar is JigAPix. That
franchise has set the standard for how we feel a jigsaw puzzle game
should control. Players can easily grab pieces, and rotate them.
Rotation can not be turned off. This is the one issue I have with Join
It - Jigsaw Puzzle. I also noticed at times I was moving a piece into
place and it was rotating while I was moving it. This took longer to
solve the puzzle and hurt my score. I would love for Join It - Jigsaw
Puzzle to add an option to turn rotation off. That is the one thing
holding this game back from being in the upper echelon.
I stated earlier that more than one family member can enjoy Join It -
Jigsaw Puzzle at a time. That is true as long as each family member is
taking turns with putting puzzle pieces on. Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle will
not allow for multiple hands to be moving different pieces in at the
same time. We tried this and it only messed things up for the first
family member trying to move a piece in.
The lessons in Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle are pattern recognition, size
matching, shape matching, and identification. I feel these are great
lessons for all ages of the family. It was a real joy for me to play and
review Join It - Jigsaw Puzzle on the iPad. This franchise has put a
great foot forward. I hope to see improvements in sequels.
