Eyepet and Friends

We love pet games here at Family Friendly Gaming. So when Eyepet & Friends came in we got pretty excited. The first Eyepet game was pretty good, and it was a great showcase for the Playstation Move. Sony has improved upon the original in almost every way imaginable. There are more games to play, more toys to interact with, and more areas to express creativity.

Eyepet & Friends starts players out in a factory where they get to see their egg. Then you come home, and work on hatching it. This process involves a few activities that are there to teach families how to interact with their Eyepet. Then the game shows the main menu, and explains the various options. The first time we went to any of these areas the game explained about what to do. Then we were all into this game that includes countless hours of fun.

The Eyepets look very realistic in this Playstation 3 Move game. I am still not convinced on the Eye Camera showing me and the floor, but it works. This is not used in all aspects of the game thankfully. I enjoyed the various color schemes in Eyepet & Friends, and getting to be creative myself. Eyepet & Friends is a 3D compatible game if you have all of the required equipment.

We are having an internal debate here at Family Friendly Gaming. What do the Eyepets sound like? Some people think monkeys, others think dogs, and still others think cats. I think they sound like different animals at different times. What do you think? What everyone here agrees on is they are cute sounds generally. The narrator does a decent job of explaining the options. Although at times I wanted to silence him and move on.

Two family members can enjoy Eyepet & Friends at once. You can share your creations online, and you can create a wide array of things. In some ways Sony took the creativity aspect from LittleBigPlanet, and applied it to Eyepet & Friends. In a lesser degree of course. But still being able to express creativity equates to the possibility of unlimited game play.

The controls work great in Eyepet & Friends. Waving the wand around, or using my hand to pet the Eyepet worked as one would expect them to. A few of the game challenges in Eyepet & Friends take some getting used to. That is okay because they are fun. We play those games to earn tokens. Those tokens are spent on all kinds of things. From attire to dress up your Eyepet to harder challenges, and games.

Eyepet & Friends taught me to care for animals. It also taught me to enjoy life, and live every moment to its fullest. These are great lessons. Children can be taught to be gentle with animals - especially ones smaller than they are. I hoped there would be a sequel to the original Eyepet video game. I am happy to have gotten to play Eyepet & Friends. This franchise is definitely going in the right direction.
