Emberwind

SCORE: 80

Emberwind

Emberwind is a majestic game on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. You take a character through a hack and slash quest. You play an elderly looking dwarf character fighting off gremlins. They conquered and you are going to take the land back from them. This could be a difficult game if not for the assistance of a huge white owl. This is the kind of a video game one would expect on the Xbox 360, Wii or Playstation 3.

The graphics look amazing in Emberwind. The characters in Emberwind animate wonderfully. Emberwind is an awesome game to look at. The level of the details in the items are great. The hack and slash violence gets old, especially considering it is against the same looking enemies. This could be forgiven if not for the game play issues. No worries gaming friends, because this review will be there in the shake of a lambs tail.

The most majestic portion of Emberwind is the music. The music in this game feels like a major motion picture. You know a Chronicles of Narnia, or Lord of the Rings. The musicians that worked on Emberwind are talented. They need a raise, otherwise some other company may snap them up. The special effect sounds fit this game like a glove.

The amount of quests and levels easily warrants the ninety-nine cent price. There needs to be some clarification. The iPad version costs $1.99, and the iPhone/iPod version costs $.99. The iPhone/iPod version can be played on the iPad, and many families may go that route. There are hidden items all throughout the entire quest in Emberwind.

FINALLY, we have gotten to the game play portion of Emberwind. This is the one lacking area of this game. It is extremely difficult to nearly unplayable on the iPhone/iPod Touch. The controls are very hard to get working. Family Friendly Gaming has been advocating a couple of buttons on this platform for years now. Emberwind is the classic example of why they are needed. The touch only controls hurt this game. Now if you play Emberwind on the iPad it works a lot better. The extra space for the controls makes it actually playable.

The lesson in Emberwind is defeat evil. Go to whatever lengths is necessary. Kill everything in your path. Gain new skills while you are dismantling evil. Turn back the ruthless aggression of the conquerors. Look around your environment to find hidden treasure troves. Emberwind can also be used to relax from a stressful world that expects us to be wage slaves to. It may even give some the courage to stand up to greedy CEO's that sell off companies and make millions for themselves.
