Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Skies

RPG fanatics have been eagerly awaiting Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky for months. This reviewer purchased this Nintendo DS game, and really took some time with it. No rushing through this hand held game to get the review online as soon as possible. Apologies to the million plus who wanted to hear Family Friendly Gaming’s opinion on it. Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky starts the player out as a celestial who resembles an angel. Help the people in a village as their protector. They give benevolence for the help, which the player takes to a tree. There is a separation between the deity in this game, and the angels. So the tree will eventually bear fruit when it gets enough benevolence. Eventually the player becomes a half mortal, half angel, and can enlist the aid of other players. There are standard made ones, or you can create your own. Once players get into the profession system with the skill points they see how hundreds of hours can be spent playing this game.

There is a ton of grinding in Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky. Grinding is leveling up. You do this by fighting monsters. In order to beat this game you will need to defeat thousands of monsters. Many of the monsters have color swaps so that means a more powerful monster looks exactly like a previous monster with a different color scheme. Certain female characters do not wear a lot of clothing, and you can equip your female characters with things like a bikini top. Male characters can run around in things like briefs.

Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky contains bad language in certain parts of the game, as well as characters with bad attitudes. This is really a shame because it takes away from this game. The sound track in Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky is fantastic. Plenty of classic sounds can be found in this game. There is a lot of talk of the Almighty in this DS game, and on the surface it seems to be friendly to Christians.

The exhausting list of quests in Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky will keep gamers busy for months. The profession system is the same way. It can take a lot of work to level up characters, which will sap away time as well. The alchemy system is another one that can drain time from players. There is an addicting nature to getting new skills in this game.

At first this reviewer really liked the leveling up, and profession system. The longer it took to level up characters the more annoying this became though. The controls work well. The complexity of the system is easy enough for newcomers, and deep up for the hardcores.

Additional quests can also be downloaded for those who can not get enough of this game.
Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky contains goddess worship, a fallen angel taking over, God being killed. God in this game is shown as very judgemental and wanting to destroy mortal. His hand is stayed, and somehow he has no control over that. Magic is used in this game, and there is quite a bit of talking to the dead. Dragon Quest IX Sentinels of the Starry Sky has multicard download play for up to four people.
