Danny Phantom Season 1
SCORE: 67
Danny Phantom is an intriguing
franchise for Family Friendly Gaming to review. When I heard we were
getting a reviewable copy I volunteered to review it. I knew a little
about the franchise. The whole spiritual aspect of Danny Phantom Season
1 is one of the portions we will explore in this review. My guess is we
are the only website that will do so.
Danny Fenton is a fourteen year old boy whose parents are obsessed with
the ghost realm. They invent a machine to see into that realm. It does
not work so they leave it. Danny goes into the portal and turns it on.
Hence an accident that turns him into half boy, and half ghost. He can
transform into Danny Phantom at will. With this transformation comes new
powers. Powers he uses to hunt ghosts and send them back to their realm.
Danny Phantom Season 1 uses a lot of darker shades of colors. Things
like dark purples, and a bright green on black. Danny can shoot beams,
and there are various characters with energy weapons. Much of the
violence is shown in still frames. I did not find any enticement to lust
issues in the twenty episodes on Danny Phantom Season 1.
I love the humor in Danny Phantom Season 1. There are multiple instances
in many episodes where I was laughing. Children also relate to the humor
in this show. The voice acting is outstanding. The whole ghost theme
either grows on you, or you become desensitized to it. I found myself in
the category of the latter. The theme song makes me extremely angry.
Why? It is stuck in my head and won't let go. It is a very catchy tune
that explains Danny Phantom's origins.
I am very pleased that Shout Factory released Danny Phantom Season 1. I
had not seen the show before, and without their release I would not have
ever seen it. There are twenty episodes of this Nickelodeon television
show from 2004. Aside from that there are no bonus features or extras.
You will get your moneys worth by watching it over and over again.
Danny Phantom Season 1 reminds me of a super hero from the comic books.
Who? Spider-Man. There are many similarities between the two, especially
in the earlier Spider-Man comics and cartoons. They both have accidents
that give them powers. Both are not popular in school. Both are trying
to keep their identities a secret. Both have enemies that are more
powerful than them. Both have villains that hunt them, and villains with
complex motives. Both try to reason with the bad guys when they can.
Both crack jokes and try and get a rise out of the bad characters.
Danny Phantom Season 1 teaches various lessons. Some of them are about
how important it is to study and work hard. Others are about how
important family is. There is even an anti-bullying message in one
episode of Danny Phantom Season 1. The last episode in the season has
Danny Phantom being controlled by an evil character. He keeps fighting
against the mind control that is very admirable.
There are some spiritual concerns in Danny Phantom Season 1. Danny and
others possess various characters. Many times they make them do things
they would not normally do. At times this is done to get revenge or as
comic relief. Thing is possess is a very real issue that happens in the
real world. There is nothing funny about it. And the demons that do it,
don't let go easily. The concept of letting in evil through a portal is
not a new one, but another one that concerns me. As well as using powers
of the spiritual realm for various purposes.
