DanceDanceRevolution II

Our illustrious leader asked me one question before I started to review DanceDanceRevolution II on the Wii. He asked me: "is DanceDanceRevolution still relevant with a dance pad?" I pondered that question as I stepped on the arrows. As I played some of the same songs in the Just Dance games. I danced to some of the same songs in Everybody Dance. Is it time for Konami to put the dance pad in the closet? Is it better to Kinect and Move?

I hope to answer those questions in this review. I fussed at the dance pad that came with DanceDanceRevolution II. It would slip a little or I would get off just a bit. Next thing I know i was missing everything, and looking down to get my placement again. I also noticed the fabric on the bottom of the dance pad is better. It is more difficult to slip on the pad in DanceDanceRevolution II.

Visually there are some interesting things in DanceDanceRevolution II. Many of the songs contain music videos. This really distracted me on my first song. I was so excited to see the music video that I did not pay attention to the fact that I need to get moving. Thank you MTV for training me to sit there and watch music videos. Good thing your channel no longer actually plays music videos.

The special effects in the visuals of DanceDanceRevolution II are super. There is some violence in some of the music videos, and there are also certain enticement to lust issues. Those resting will see it, but if you are dancing you won't. I could not concentrate on both the videos and the dance steps. And I was on the beginner mode.

There is an interesting mix of songs in DanceDanceRevolution II. Most of them are upbeat, and very energetic. The kinds of things you would hear at a dance club if you were into that sort of place. The lyrics of certain songs will offend some. I want to get that out there. I am not a fan of some of the things some of the musicians and singers have to say. There is also sexual content in this section as well.

There are enough songs, and modes in DanceDanceRevolution II to keep families busy for months. Songs can be played at full length or you can play half of a song. There are numerous achievements to attain in DanceDanceRevolution II as well. If you like dance games, and do not mind the dance pad, then DanceDanceRevolution II is worth the price of admission.

I do feel that there is an audience for DanceDanceRevolution II. Not everyone can afford a PS3, and the move. The same thing goes for the Xbox 360 and Kinect. There are also those that enjoy using the dance pad. DanceDanceRevolution  started the whole dancing craze. We have to acknowledge those roots. Konami innovated this entire genre.

DanceDanceRevolution II taught me to get some exercise, and how to get some rhythm. I had fun playing this Wii game. There is also a note on the box of DanceDanceRevolution II about working together to stop diabetes. Konami needs to be commended for working on this particular problem. It was a pleasure for me to play and review DanceDanceRevolution II.
