Blue Dragon Plus
SCORE: 61
One year has passed since Shu and his friends defeated the Ancient Nene. Guess who is back in Blue Dragon Plus? Nene, Shadows, and much more. Blue Dragon Plus is a role playing game where the player has teams of characters who fight in real time. Almost every character has some major super powerful shadow that fills the role of magic. Well not entirely as there is also magic users in Blue Dragon Plus who cast various spells. The rating the ESRB gave this game is more than a little surprising. An E10+ rating would better fit the content in this hand held video game.
Blue Dragon Plus has two main visuals that are worth mentioning. The game play levels contain small graphics with okay details. The movie scenes contain amazing graphics that push the Nintendo DS to its limits. There is violent images in Blue Dragon Plus as players hack and slash through the enemies. Players give the commands and watch them enact them. There are also some sexual images in Blue Dragon Plus that the ESRB somehow forgot to mention. Almost every single shadow is scary looking to this reviewer.
The music is okay in Blue Dragon Plus. Nothing to write home about, but nothing offensive. The characters in Blue Dragon Plus have the strangest names this reviewer has ever come across. The special effect sounds fit the theme of this game, but a few felt out of place. An example would be the shadow battles when two characters on opposing teams are trying to use a shadow at the same time.
The story in Blue Dragon Plus will take most players a week or two to beat. There are various items, including hidden ones throughout this hand held role playing game. The RPG Master got Blue Dragon Plus on sale, but felt like money was wasted. Learn from my mistake eh?
The gameplay in Blue Dragon Plus made this reviewer insane. Too often the camera has to be rotated to try and see certain characters. Lose track of someone and they may die. That becomes a problem because of how difficult Blue Dragon Plus is. Players split into multiple teams way too fast, and if you are not paying attention you go into battle with one character. The AI is not very intelligent, except when they get their health low. This reviewer did not have fun playing this Nintendo DS video game.
Blue Dragon
Plus is a frustrating experience with an odd storyline. The storyline is
not even worth all of the fussing over the annoying battles. We have no
need for a sequel to Blue Dragon Plus. Hopefully the cube stays where it
is. Players use strange shadow powers to defeat their enemies, and
ultimately save the day. Please pass on Blue Dragon Plus.
