Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked
SCORE: 81
Majesco Entertainment has one monster
Christmas video game line up this year. At every turn there has been an
interesting video game from them this year. Alvin and the Chipmunks
Chipwrecked follows the movie of the same name loosely. There are thirty
generally well known songs in this home console Xbox 360 Kinect video
game.
The first thing families will want to pay attention to is the E10+
rating. That means everyone who is ten years or older. There are certain
songs in Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked with lyrical issues. I
recommend looking over the song list before purchasing so you have some
idea what songs are being discussed.
The Chipmunks and Chipettes look pretty good in Alvin and the Chipmunks
Chipwrecked. Their animation is not at the level of the movie, but they
are not as stiff as they were in previous games. There are a few
different environments for two family members to enjoy. Although expect
to stay on the same one for multiple songs in the story mode.
I personally found quite a few worldly songs in Alvin and the Chipmunks
Chipwrecked that are enjoyable to listen to. Things like La Bamba, and
Video Killed the Radio Star are stand out songs for me. It is also fun
to hear the Chipmunks sing these different songs. I like some of their
versions to songs better than the original artists. Witch Doctor, and
Beat It are songs in Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked.
Gamers are graded on how accurately they follow the movements in Alvin
and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked. Since this is Kinect you have to move
your legs as well as your arms. Early on Alvin and the Chipmunks
Chipwrecked is very forgiving. I got a perfect on a few songs that I
know I made mistakes on. Later songs were more difficult though, and
getting all of the gold stars was challenging. There is a free play mode
so you do not need to unlock everything.
Getting exercise from dance is the main lesson in Alvin and the
Chipmunks Chipwrecked. I found myself winded after a few songs, and was
happy to share Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked with others. Everyone
had fun dancing with the Chipmunks. The main issue for families with
Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked is the lyrics to some of the songs.
The majority of the dance moves are safe. A few here and there are
borderline questionable.
