de Blob

de BLOB fell through the cracks somehow. I remember playing this game at E3 in the year of our Lord 2008. It impressed me quite a bit. We never got a reviewable copy and we were busy with lots of other games. I realized that we had not reviewed it, so I went out and purchased this game. It was as good as I remembered. Players bring color back into an oppressed world. The main character is a blob who collects color and then deposits it on the drab areas. There can be a graffiti feel as the blob will leave a trail. One of the coolest things of this game is mixing and matching colors. For example get some yellow, then get some red, and you are now orange. Orange is pretty cool, but not as much fun as purple.

de BLOB is absolutely alive with color. Levels start boring, but players get to brighten things up. In some ways de BLOB is an interactive coloring book. There are bad guys in de BLOB, and the player can target, jump up, and then smash them. The bad guys leave an ink smear once they are crushed. Certain areas require the bad guys be eliminated, and other areas they can be ignored.

THQ has impressed me for years with their quality family friendly titles. Some may complain that they make games that are not for families as well. That is true. We only support the ones that are for families, and cover them exclusively. Players can pick different musical styles based on their moods. This works wonderfully. The various themes fit, and this also gives families some diversity when playing de BLOB.

de BLOB contains a fair amount of unlockable content. Much of that is very humorous. I was not expecting to laugh while playing this Wii game, but I did on numerous occasions. Up to four players can enjoy de BLOB at the same time. I got this game pretty cheap online, and feel I got my moneys worth.

Coloring things gives the player points. There are also challenges in each level that grant even more points. Get to the right level of points and additional areas (and/or the exit) is unlocked. There is a lot to do in each level of de BLOB. I had a lot of fun playing this game as did others who played it.

I really hope THQ publishes a sequel to de BLOB. Overall this game is safe for families, and it is also a lot of fun. I will be recommending de BLOB to friends and family members. It is really neat to have a fun coloring game that I can play with my own family. Thank you THQ.
