Wheel of Fortune

I have not been into game shows for a very long time. My favorite involved a supermarket where people would run out with a shopping cart and fill it with as much stuff as possible. I think it was called Supermarket Sweep. I also remember watching Wheel of Fortune when I was younger, and enjoyed trying to solve the puzzle before the real players. My mother was always very good at Wheel of Fortune.

There have been video game versions of Wheel of Fortune in the past. The Wii version is the first time I actually feel like I am a part of the show. All of the characters in Wheel of Fortune are given the Mii treatment. Family members can use their own Miis to play with. Vanna and Pat look slightly better than a normal Mii, but they fit the tone of this game perfectly.

I enjoyed seeing different sets in Wheel of Fortune. The show has done different things over the years, and it is neat that the video game representation on the Wii allows players to visit them. The wheel and board both look great, and there are plenty of special effects in Wheel of Fortune. I really do not like that Bankrupt tile, nor how often it came up.

The voices in Wheel of Fortune are realistic, and added to the level of realism. I felt like I was actually there. Hearing the announcer explain my prizes got me all excited. Then I remembered I was playing Wheel of Fortune on the Wii, and would not be getting that sports car, or that trip to Paris. The most heart wrenching thing for me was to see my winnings and know it was a pipe dream.

Three family members can enjoy Wheel of Fortune at the same time. If you do not have that many, then computer characters can join in the fun. Wheel of Fortune contains a nice amount of unlockable content. There are also some great tracking features, and goals to acquire. This makes perfect sense, and had me replaying Wheel of Fortune more often than I normally would a game of this type.

I was wracking my brain on more than one occasion trying to figure out the answer. Wheel of Fortune contains over eight thousand puzzles. There are also mini games that can be played during commercial breaks. Wheel of Fortune has a very authentic game show feel to it. I can see this becoming the standard in the future. My one complaint is how often I hit Bankrupt. In one round, myself and the two computer players hit is over ten times. For me that was a bit excessive. Now it was only one round, out of many.

I was going to say that Wheel of Fortune is for all ages of the family. However that is not completely accurate. Family members need to know letters, and how to read. As long as those two are in place, family members will have a blast with Wheel of Fortune. Some puzzles are easy, and others are extremely difficult. It all depends on the difficulty setting and your knowledge. I hope to see more games like this from THQ in the future. It was a real pleasure to be able to play and review Wheel of Fortune on the Wii.
