TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue
SCORE: 86
TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue for the Nintendo DS has many of
the characters from the movie, however this is more of a stand alone
adventure. Players start this hand held video game by getting to create
their own avatar. That avatar just happens to be a fairy. Do not sweat
what dress to pick because you will earn new ones as the game
progresses. Part of the fun of TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue is
to change clothes. Girls can mix and match quite a few different parts
of the wardrobe.
The visuals in TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue are alive with
color. I noticed some nice little touches in this DS game. For example,
when your character talks to another one there is a little animation.
This is like a short video clip. It would be very easy to miss it. The
artistic backgrounds in TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue are awe
inspiring. I can tell that Disney Interactive Studios put a lot of
effort into that. TinkerBell seems to have the shortest dress of any of
the fairies.
The music in TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue is fantastic. I
enjoyed listening to this game, as much as I did playing it. The fairies
are constantly giving the player good advice, and quests. Before I
forget they also give you mini games. I will get into that in a bit. I
did not find any offensive dialogue while playing TinkerBell and the
Great Fairy Rescue on the Nintendo DS.
The mini games are fun, and girls will enjoy replaying them. A few of
them (like the cookies) will take a few tries. Some additional time
would have been nice. Anywho! TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue
contains DGamer content, as well as a lot of different costumes that can
be unlocked. Then there is the garden. Girls can plant flowers, water
them, give them sunlight, pet them, and produce more seeds. The more you
do, the better your garden will look. I feel that TinkerBell and the
Great Fairy Rescue is worth the money for the girls in the family.
The touch screen controls work marvelously in TinkerBell and the Great
Fairy Rescue. I ran into no issues while playing this hand held video
game. I did find myself flying past the markers to the next screen. This
was no big deal though. I tapped the marker, and would wait for the next
screen to load. TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue takes the player
through the tutorial in a nice fast paced way. I appreciated the lessons
it taught me later in the game.
TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue is all about helping people. Oh
wait, that's not right. TinkerBell and the Great Fairy Rescue is all
about helping fairies. Players help the various characters with chores,
and other aspects of their life at the summer camp. I like how Disney
Interactive Studios has taken a movie, and built a game around the
world. Too many movie based games follow the movie, which limits what a
game can be. I hope to see sequels to this franchise in the near future.
Thus far this series continues to get better.
