The Penguins of Madagascar

The Penguins of Madagascar are some of the most humorous characters I have run across in a long time. They are good enough to spin off from the Madagascar movies, and make it on their own. When my first born son heard about The Penguins of Madagascar he started harassing me about reviewing this Nintendo DS game. The reason is he wants to play it, and knows the rules. I have to finish with a game before he can get to play it. So he is very pleased that I am writing this review.

I like games like The Penguins of Madagascar because it is all about cooperative game play. Each of the penguins have a different skill. One can double jump, another one can hack gates/create bridges, another can climb/crawl through small holes, and the final one can throw bombs to take out obstacles. All four penguins can create a ladder and swing across large gaps.

The penguins animate amazingly well for a Nintendo DS game. I was very surprised to see the details in The Penguins of Madagascar. The various locales in The Penguins of Madagascar look really good. Rico going boom to take out obstacles is the only violence I noticed in The Penguins of Madagascar. I feel that The Penguins of Madagascar is generally safe for children, especially if they enjoy this franchise.

The level of humor in The Penguins of Madagascar is very high. I found myself laughing at the various comments from separate characters. The music in The Penguins of Madagascar has a real flair to it. If you have a Nintendo DSi, then you can have King Julien critique your photos. He can be somewhat insulting at times, so be prepared. I found his comments to be funny, and was not offended by them.

Only one player at a time can enjoy The Penguins of Madagascar. There are more than enough levels to keep gamers busy for weeks. They are broken out into episodes. Each episode has numerous levels. Each level has numerous stealth missions. Players collect snow cones in levels, and use them to purchase items in King Julien's store. There are also mini games on top of the DSi only photo game.

The majority of The Penguins of Madagascar is non-violent. The stealth element in this Nintendo DS game is appreciated here at Family Friendly Gaming. The one aspect of The Penguins of Madagascar I did not enjoy was building the bridges. Having to do the same quick mini game every single time was very annoying. Having characters cooperate to solve the puzzles is awesome. I had a lot of fun playing The Penguins of Madagascar on the DS.

I find it encouraging that THQ published The Penguins of Madagascar for the Nintendo DS. These characters are great, a lot of fun, and generally family friendly. These characters teach families to work together, solve problems, and be considerate of others. I hope and pray the The Penguins of Madagascar become a franchise in the video game industry. It was my personal pleasure to be able to play and review this DS game. I believe that The Penguins of Madagascar is safe for the entire family.
