The Madeline Movie Lost in Paris
SCORE: 82
I knew of Madeline children's books, but do not recall reading any of
them. So when my hubby mentioned a Madeline movie, I was intrigued. The
Madeline Movie Lost in Paris feels like a book for children. That is not
a bad thing, because it connects with children quite well. The thing
that sticks out to me about this movie is how polite the children are.
Madeline finds out she has an uncle, and he wants her to move to Vienna
with him. Sadly not everything is as it seems.
The visuals in The Madeline Movie Lost in Paris jump around. Some made
me think of a book, whereas others made me think of an animated movie.
Children did not mind. There are various colors, and the themes fit the
mood of the scene. I loved the snow scene, as well as the concern the
girls had when Miss Clavel got sick. I found no offensive images while
watching The Madeline Movie Lost in Paris on DVD.
The accents in The Madeline Movie Lost in Paris can get thick at times.
This DVD has a very European feel to it. Since the main area of the
movie is Paris, expect a French accent. There are other European
characters and their accents offset this. The characters speak English
most of the time. Kids can learn a few phrases in French from this DVD.
The only area where The Madeline Movie Lost in Paris fails in my book is
the extras. There are none to speak of. When you put the DVD in there is
previews of other Shout Factory products. Get past that, and there is
just play or chapter selection. Which was a bit of a disappointment for
me. It would have been neat if there had been some feature about the
author.
The The Madeline Movie Lost in Paris DVD functions perfectly. I found no
issues moving around the menu screens. With that said there are not a
lot of menu screens to move around, so that can be taken into account.
The story is a really good one where Madeline must break free from a
child slavery imprisonment. Her "uncle" turns out to be a fraud.
It is really sad that there is slavery in this day and age. The Madeline
Movie Lost in Paris got me thinking about this topic. Not only are
children treated like slaves in various parts of the world, so are
adults. Oh in the modern world there can be new names given like
salaried employee. There are bosses out there that treat their people
like slaves. Maybe watching this movie can help them be brave standing
up against such evil oppressors.
