Starstruck Extended Edition
SCORE: 92
Yolanda and I started watching Starstruck Extended Edition thanks to
a reviewable copy from our friends over at Disney and I was not
impressed. These two sisters are completely at odds. One is psycho
obsessed with Christopher Wilde (played by Sterling Knight), and the
other could care less. Their family takes a trip to visit grandma in
California. The rock star Wilde has problems of his own. His girlfriend
cares more about publicity than him. He is doing everything he can to
please everyone around him. A movie deal is dangled in front of him, and
he is trying to be a good boy to get the deal.
I was very impressed with how safe the visuals are in Starstruck
Extended Edition. The characters dress appropriately, albeit a little
artistic. As an artistic person myself I can related to wearing wild
colors like purple pants. The actors portray their roles exceptionally
well. The level of emotion in certain scenes is fantastic. I really
liked the little nuances that Sterling Knight brings to this movie. His
facial acting is very animated. There are a lot of colors in this movie,
one of my favorites is a humorous looking vehicle.
Speaking of humor (yes I love segways), there is a fair amount of humor
in Starstruck Extended Edition. We were not expecting this, however we
certainly enjoyed it. Now we come to the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
The music in Starstruck Extended Edition is absolutely amazing. There
are quite a few awesome songs in this movie. As I write this review I am
listening to my personal favorite - Got to Believe. That song hits a
cord with me personally. I have poured over the lyrics, and they are
family friendly. The verbal talents of the artists is very impressive.
Starstruck Extended Edition has a couple of cool bonus features that
families will appreciate. There is an exclusive music scene on the DVD
(sorry to those that watch this movie on television). The package also
comes with the full length movie sound track. This is pure genius in my
opinion. I wish more music based movies would do that. Three music
videos for songs will also entertain families. One of the most
interesting features is Rock Along. This shows the lyrics of the songs
while the movie is playing.
The story in Starstruck Extended Edition is predictable, but fun
nonetheless. The sister who is not interested winds up meeting the rock
star. He falls for her, and decides to save her from his wild paparazzi
life. He winds up failing, and realizing he does not like who he is
becoming. The knight (pun intended) comes to the rescue of the princess.
And no the princess was not in another castle. The menu screens all
exhibit an intelligent design.
I have no problem with children watching Starstruck Extended Edition. It
gave us an opportunity to show the lesson of what is truly in important
in life. Honesty is one of the lessons that Starstruck Extended Edition
contains. I also like how the sisters reconcile later in the movie.
Disney has another hit on their hands, and I hope they continue to
produce movies like this one in the future. I will be recommending
Starstruck Extended Edition to friends and family members.
