Squishy Tank

Squishy and Tank are two words that would not normally go together, but it does in Natsume's Nintendo DS video game. Squishy Tank is a puzzle game with all kinds of characters. These cute little tanks are trying to survive, and have all kinds of humorous ways of doing so. Putting cardboard boxes over their heads was the funniest one to me. The core of the game is finding three of more tiles of the same color and touching one of them. They vanish and more tiles (or blocks) come falling down.

The graphics are generally colorful in Squishy Tank. The tanks have a bland look to them, but I would happily display a stuffed version of one in my workspace. The game play screens have a wide array of colors, and it very easy to distinguish between them. We are talking about tanks so there are explosions, and poor little tanks getting blown up. That is right I have sympathy for these cute characters.

The music in Squishy Tank is fun, and there is some humor in this hand held video game. I was not expecting so much character out of this game so that was a very pleasant surprise. Squishy Tank contains a military element to it which felt strange at times. I mention that because of how cute, and personable the tank characters are. Squishy Tank has a message of surviving that will resonate among many gamers.

Levels can be beaten pretty quickly, but there are a ton of them to play. On top of that Natsume included multiple modes that will keep gamers busy for months. Squishy Tank will thrill you with the single card download play for two players. I love it when a game has that, and Family Friendly Gaming gets that question on games all the time. One card, and two Nintendo DS machines will allow two family members to play. Squishy Tank includes unlockable content and mini games as well.

The game play is absolutely awesome in Squishy Tank. The touch controls work marvelously. Squishy Tank includes various power ups that can help you through the various puzzle screens. If you get really stuck there is a shuffle button that will entirely reshuffle the entire screen.  Be careful because you only have so many times you can do that. You do earn more as you complete levels though.

Squishy Tank is a cute little puzzle game that I really enjoyed. I learned color matching, and how to be quick about finding these matches. I also learned to help those in need, and to avoid violence whenever possible. Squishy Tank has some cartoon style violence that may bother your family, so please be aware of it. Thankfully the violence is not a part of the main game, or even the focus of this DS game.
