Smallville Season Eight

Smallville Season Eight is the worst Smallville season I have ever seen. There are only two of the original cast still in this show. Clark and Chloe are the only two left. Oh sure Lana visits for a few episodes, and someone similar to Lex is given a few guest spots as well. I may not even bother with Smallville Season Nine unless they make major changes. Doomsday is brought into the mix as a major character. Clark has not even taken on the Superman mantra yet. He is getting closer as the red blue blur. They have also killed off Jimmy Olsen. The writers have strayed so far from the Superman path in this season that it has lost its way.

Smallville Season Eight contains more blood than I can remember in any previous season. Doomsday goes around murdering countless people. Certain characters even protect him knowing what he is. Smallville Season Eight disposes of him quickly after an entire season of build up. There are also enticement to lust issues as this show tries to beat others into the gutter. Relationships and emotions are visually shown to be very disposable.

I was dismayed at so much bad language in Smallville Season Eight. The standards for television shows have really fallen. The only music that I enjoyed in Smallville Season Eight was the main theme. I have to admit that it has gotten old eight years later. The whimsical logic used in Smallville Season Eight confounded me, and the weird direction this season took made me shake my head.

There are some commentaries in Smallville Season Eight, as well as unaired scenes. These DVDs also contain some special features related to this season. The moral, ethical, and language issues continue in the extras features as well. Normally I find episodes I am interested in rewatching, but I was not pleased with Smallville Season Eight. I waited for this package to drop below twenty dollars before purchasing and feel like my money was wasted.

Yolanda and I have watched all eight seasons of Smallville on DVD. We always talk about the shows after watching them. With Smallville Season Eight we kept coming back to something was wrong. Too many of the good characters are gone, and this show is not what it once was. The menu screens function properly, and that is the nicest thing I can say about Smallville Season Eight.

Smallville Season Eight is a mere shadow of what it once was. They don’t bring it into the Superman universe properly, and it has lost its charm. Why so many characters commute from Smallville to Metropolis make little to no sense. There is too much bad in Smallville Season Eight, so just pass on it.
