Seed 2 Vortex of War
SCORE: 69
I am curious to see how well role playing games do on the iPhone/iPod
Touch. Seed 2 Vortex of War is the first role playing game on this
platform that I have played. There is some good, and some opportunities
for improvement. As much as I enjoy the iPhone/iPod Touch as a gaming
platform I do believe Apple needs to make some improvements. The
sensitivity is the biggest concern I have, and I do compare it to the
Nintendo DS. Seed 2 Vortex of War tells the continuing story of Litta,
as the need for a hero has arisen. Albeit five years later.
Seed 2 Vortex of War surprised me at the beginning with an inappropriate
picture that falls under the enticement to lust category. When I got
into the game, the graphics improved dramatically. The world is bright,
and colorful. The graphics are a little small in Seed 2 Vortex of War,
but the details are pretty good. There is violence in Seed 2 Vortex of
War, as you essentially hack and slash your way through the game. As far
as I could tell I was not getting direct experience for this, which made
it even more pointless.
The music in Seed 2 Vortex of War fits the theme of this game, and helps
the story along. There is some language issues, and I am frankly shocked
that Apple did not include that in the descriptor. Players are helped
out by a dead character who is halfway between the real world, and
spiritual world. Seed 2 Vortex of War requires the gamer to complete
numerous missions in order to progress. Some are as simple as deliver a
letter, and others are collect a certain number of items from monsters
when they die. It is important to note that they do not always drop said
items.
For an iPhone/iPod Touch game, Seed 2 Vortex of War is really long.
Family Friendly Gaming was given a reviewable copy of Seed 2 Vortex of
War, but it sells for $3.99. If the game play is in your interest, then
you will receive your moneys worth out of Seed 2 Vortex of War. There
are over twenty four towns, and two hundred different battle screens.
Most are small, but have some scrolling to them.
I will be candid about the controls in Seed 2 Vortex of War. I am not a
fan of them. Players use a directional arrow button near the bottom
left, and then interaction on the lower right. This interaction can be
talking or fighting. I tried various ways of controlling Seed 2 Vortex
of War, and did not find one that fit my style. One handed leaves the
player open to attacks, and two handed had me hitting the wrong buttons.
I have played numerous DS games that allow touch controls for movement,
and attacking (editor: by touching where to walk to, and touching what
to attack). Plus characters will attack when they are close to monsters.
These are definite improvements this franchise will need in any sequel.
Speaking with the dead, and the afterlife concepts in Seed 2 Vortex of
War is something families need to be aware of. I found myself numb to
the violence after awhile, and not a fan of the leveling up system. Seed
2 Vortex of War tries to do some new things, but they are not to my
personal liking. I am amazed they were able to cram so much content into
such a little game. I believe this could be an amazing franchise with
some tweaks.
