RailRoad Racer 3D
SCORE: 74
RailRoad Racer 3D is one of the strangest apps we have reviewed here at Family Friendly Gaming. Your character is in a railroad car going down the tracks. There are choices of three different mines. For some reason we have to race down the tracks, and shoot the many tracks closed obstacles. Smaller obstacles can be jumped over. Before you decide to go gun crazy with RailRoad Racer 3D, you need to understand one important fact - your ammo is limited.
The graphics are on the dark side in RailRoad Racer 3D. I could tell what health packs were, and even was able to recognize the additional ammo packs. The track closed obstacles are easy to see. Annoying how often they appear but that is another section. The players two guns are easy to see. If shooting inanimate objects bother you then you will want to steer clear of RailRoad Racer 3D.
The music in RailRoad Racer 3D is a little creepy for me. The plus side of that, is the music fits the theme of this game and its environment. Racing down the tracks actually sounded pretty darn blasted good. It is broken up by all the gunfire. The empty clicks of the guns are the worst sound in this game. Most of the time this happened to me right before I crashed through something. What was the result? Loss of some health, or the end of my run.
There are three different mines in RailRoad Racer 3D. My problem is they look the same, and they feel the same. So it does not lead to a lot of replay value. If you really get into RailRoad Racer 3D, then you can replay levels over and over again. RailRoad Racer 3D is ninety-nine cents, so deciding whether to purchase or not can be a toss up.
I had fun playing RailRoad Racer 3D for a few minutes. Then the repetitive nature of this game started to get to me. I would grab ammo, gold, jump over logs, and shoot barriers. RailRoad Racer 3D feels like it generates on the fly. Problem is there are only so many combinations with limited choices. The touch controls work as one would expect.
I am a little surprised racing down the tracks, and shooting things
is something Apple considers 4+. I learned to destroy what is in my way,
and to pay attention to my surroundings from playing RailRoad Racer 3D.
The concept of RailRoad Racer 3D has some promise in my opinion. I think
it would have been better if I could shoot something to move obstacles
out of my way, and be given the choice of avoiding shooting altogether.
The brakes in this game are one of your best friends.
