Pictionary DS
SCORE: 86
I have never been that good at Pictionary. Trying to guess what
others are conveying through drawings has not been a skill I was blessed
with. But I like the idea, and was really curious to see what THQ came
up with in Pictionary on the Nintendo DS. So when a reviewable copy came
in, I asked if I could be allowed to let this little cartridge humble
me.
I did wind up winning a few times, so do not feel that sorry for me.
Although I seemed to have the worst luck possible in terms of rolling
the dice when I could figure out the pictures. The computer draws a
picture and then the player is required to start to spell the word. The
game has a good dictionary of words that start appearing so the whole
word does not always need to be typed in.
Pictionary includes a lot of stick figure drawings and a few that made
absolutely no sense to me. But then it would be that way in the real
world as well. If you play Pictionary on the Nintendo DSi then you have
access to the Photo Feature Create Clues. I found no offensive images
while I played Pictionary on the DS.
The music has a flow to it in Pictionary. I enjoyed listening to it
while I was playing this hand held video game. The clock lets you know
when your time is almost up. Getting a picture right produces a
wonderful sound that filled my heart with joy. Being wrong produced a
frustrating sound. Winning a game is wonderful, and the sounds mirror
that masterfully.
If four family members have this game cartridge and a Nintendo DS (or
DSi) then ya'll can have a group game. In other words there is only a
multi-card mode. Single card download play would have been very welcome
here at Family Friendly Gaming. Pictionary contains over three thousand
clues. In game after game I never saw a repeat to previous clues. Or if
I had I had forgotten it because of how rarely they repeat.
Quirky is the best way I can describe some of the clues in Pictionary. I
have one minor complaint and that is I got difficult clues while playing
in easy mode. I showed others some of the clues and they could not
connect the dots to what the answer was either. This happened about
twenty percent of the time. The super majority of the time the clues
made sense and I was hoping for a good dice roll.
Pictionary expanded my brain to think about different words to describe
the same action. I had a lot of fun playing this Nintendo DS game, and
hope for a sequel. Families can have a lot of fun with this game. It was
my personal pleasure to be able to play and review Pictionary.
