SCORE: 71

Myst

Myst was previously released on the Nintendo DS several years ago (editor: 2008). The franchise is now under the direction of Storm City Games, and let me say the direction quite frankly leads to a dead end. Myst DS seems to be a direct port from the original PC game. However, there is a New Age (not seen in the original game), as well as a new arsenal of tools.

The original review can be found here.

There really isn’t much to add to our previous take on Myst DS, except for the fact Storm City Games did nothing other than repackage the same game - with minimal updates. Young gamers will not find Myst appealing and adult gamers have likely already played the game. The puzzles can be difficult and the presentation is outdated.

The ratings below and the overall score reflect the lack of originality in this “new” version. If you have the original version on the DS then there is nothing new here worth the price. I hope Storm City games can improve on upcoming releases. I look forward to seeing what they will bring to the DS in the future.
