My Sims Kingdom

After playing My Sims Agents on the Wii I wanted to go back and see some of the earlier My Sims games on that machine. My Sims Kingdom was at the top of my list. So I found a copy of the game on Amazon, and have been playing it. Character customization is one of the fun aspects of this game. My Sims Kingdom has the player earning a magic wand, and using it to fix up the kingdom. The kingdom has slowly been falling apart. Players will do things like chop trees, and mine to earn resources. These resources are used for things like creating a wooden bridge. I almost forgot, a scroll is needed to teach the magic wand how to turn the resources into something useful. Speaking of useful, the player gets to create houses for characters. There is a mild socializing aspect in My Sims Kingdom, mainly used to acquire an item from a particular character.

The graphics in My Sims Kingdom remind me of Legos in a lot of regards. This is mainly because of how the characters look, and the customization available. The array of islands have different themes that gamers will be familiar with. The player uses the magic wand quite extensively. The majority of My Sims Kingdom is helping others that are in need of assistance.

I love the music in My Sims Kingdom. It is so upbeat, friendly, and uplifting that it really sticks out. I have to admit that I would sit on the menu screen and enjoy the music longer with this Wii game than many others. I was not into all the magic talk that related to the wand though. That is the one thing that brings down this section. I liked how the player is on a quest to help others and repair the land. Getting to do things like build houses for others was pretty cool too.

Players get to wear a wide variety of outfits in My Sims Kingdom. There are plenty of lands, as well as recipes for the magic wand. EA included a lot characters that the player can interact with as well. The price of My Sims Kingdom is pretty cheap, so it becomes a toss up in terms of being worth the money or not.

The gameplay in My Sims Kingdom gets repetitive very quickly. Talk to someone, go find the materials for the recipe, get the recipes, and finally use said recipe to fix whatever is broken. Most of these quests require a specific number of things of each variety to be added. For example so many pieces of fence, so many pieces of bushes, and one building. I had fun playing My Sims Kingdom, and enjoyed the family friendly direction EA took with this Wii game.

The main lesson in My Sims Kingdom is to help others. The means the player uses to offer that help is where many of our fellow parents may question. It is interesting for me to go back in time a little bit and see EA’s earlier attempt. My Sims Agents builds upon this franchise.
