Megaman Starforce

I enjoyed most of the Megaman Battle Network games on the Gameboy Advance (GBA). It may have taken me some time to get around to Megaman Starforce Leo, but all good things come to those who wait. The main character Geo Stelar misses his father who was lost in space. Because of the hurt of the loss he does not want to let anyone get close. This fifth grader does not go to school because he can not handle it. Geo learns of aliens called FM-ians, and AM-ians. They can merge with humans and allow them access to the wave world (a digital world). Battlechips are used in the battles which are now in full 3D. The player only has one row of depth, and the viruses still have a three by three grid.

There are a lot of bright graphics and great colors in Megaman Starforce Leo. The violence is defeating the various virus characters. The player can shoot Megaman’s blaster, power it up, and the different battlechips. Once a characters HP reaches zero, they explode and then vanish off the screen.

I really enjoy the music in Megaman Starforce Leo. There is something about the special effect sounds that put this role playing game near the top. The message in this game is to overcome pain, and to trust in friends. I did not find any offensive language while playing this Nintendo DS video game.

Capcom seems to have gone away from the collect them all mentality with Megaman Starforce Leo. I like this new direction, because as cool as many of the battlechips are - they are only a means to an end. The length of the story will keep gamers busy for fifteen to twenty hours. After the game is beaten there is plenty of extra quests that can be completed. If you like RPG’s and like a little action in them, then I suggest purchasing Megaman Starforce Leo.

I was not so big on losing my two rows at first. The more I played Megaman Starforce Leo, the more I like this change to the gameplay. Capcom has gotten better with vague directions that get the player stuck, but they are still present. This is one of the most frustrating parts of this otherwise stellar hand held video game. I had fun playing Megaman Starforce Leo.

I wish Geo’s mother played a larger role in this game. She is absent most of the game. I do appreciate how Geo is trying to find his father. I love how so many very important issues are dealt with in Megaman Starforce Leo. Grief, helping others, split personalities, and doing the right thing are some of these issues.
