Mega Bloks Diegos Build and Rescue

Diego is back in Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue on the Nintendo DS. This hand held children's video game is a little different from previous Go Diego Go video games. First off it has the Mega Bloks license attached to it. Technically it is more than the license since vehicles, backgrounds, and more are done in Mega Bloks. In fact Diego himself might also be in that form. It can be difficult to tell on the Nintendo DS.

The Mega Bloks images are an interesting twist for this franchise. Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue has numerous colors, no violence, and children can not harm their character. The game stops us from walking off edges. We get to collect items, pieces of areas, pieces of vehicles, and save animals. I am partial to the saving of animals, especially all those polar bear cubs stuck in the jungle. Parents can be assured that their kids will safe with Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue on the DS.

Diego is encouraging in Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue. He throws some Spanish at the children while they play. He also instructs them with how to use a tool the first time they encounter it in a world. The special effect sounds fit the theme of this DS game. I did not find any offensive language or sounds while playing Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue.

There are three levels in each of the five worlds of Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue. Two of them are side scrolling, and one is a vehicle level. An adult can beat Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue in a few hours. It does take children longer. If you try and find each of the items in each of the levels it will take even longer.

Children must use the touch screen in certain parts of Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue. The problem is interacting with things like trees, blocks and ladders requires the child to touch the screen. This is the same command for jumping. Over and over again it took me multiple tries to interact with certain items. This did not happen all the time, but enough to frustrate my own child. I played it, and it was a nuisance. I was able to get by, but this issue should have been addressed in the design of the controls.

Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue teaches children to save animals, and pay attention to their environments. There is information about different animals in this DS game, as well as information on certain regions. I hope and pray there will be sequels to this franchise in the near future. It was an honor for me to review Mega Bloks Diego's Build and Rescue on the Nintendo DS.
