Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem

The Mario vs Donkey Kong series has been a favorite of mine for years now. Moving wind up Mario, Toad, Peach, Pauline, and Donkey Kong characters into the right doors, in the right sequence has never been more fun. Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem starts out easy, and slowly builds. Players will constantly have to think about the environments in different ways to progress. There are levels of progress as this Nintendo DS game contains numerous collectible items which unlock additional content. Family Friendly Gaming was given a reviewable copy of Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem.

The polish and shine of the characters in Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem is astounding. They look really good on the DS. Ladders, platforms, conveyor belts, and springs all use different colors. This little detail makes Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem so much easier to play. I never found myself confused about what went where. The mini characters animate properly, and convey the feel of this universe. Certain levels allow enemy characters to be dealt with. An example is the hammers, and they get knocked down or off the screen. Another would be shooting your characters through a cannon - again knocking them off the screen. Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem is probably the mildest Mario game in terms of violence.

Long time Mario fans will notice various tunes in Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem that pay homage to past Mario games. I noticed quite a few while I played this hand held video game. There is only one annoying sound in Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem - failing a level. Maybe I am too competitive. The special effect sounds are good, and in many cases (boss levels) it enhances the game play. The sounds would denote a change that I needed to pay attention to (like bad guys coming my way).

The insane thing about Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem is there are over two hundred levels. I played through the main game only to find another complete game waiting for me. And the next one was much harder. The game levels are fun, but the real joy for Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem is the creation tools. That is right friends, we get to create our very own levels. Most gamers aspire to be designers so this tool is a wonderful inclusion. After you make your masterpiece you can share it or download other levels as long as you can connect your Nintendo DS online. Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem is a game that can easily be played for months.

The touch screen controls work masterfully in Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem. I ran into no control issues. Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem is all about planning ahead. The longer I played this DS game the more I would project out what was going to happen next. Sure I would just wing it on some levels, but usually that taught me what not to do next time. I am having a lot of fun with Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem, and feel you would as well.

There are a lot of games out this Christmas vying for your attention, and dollars. Mario vs Donkey Kong Mini-Land Mayhem is one of those that allows creativity in terms of creation. Pauline wears a tight red dress, and that shows in her chest region. This is noticeable in a few of the screens, but thankfully Donkey Kong helps cover her while he kidnaps her. Donkey Kong does not get a Mini Pauline toy at the beginning, and decides to kidnap the real thing. Mario goes after them to rescue her. What can we learn from this? First off keep attractive women away from large hairy apes. Second dress modestly in public. Third stop being selfish. Finally do not let kidnappers get away with it.
