Jeopardy

That theme song to Jeopardy is very distinctive. Once it starts in the Wii version of this game show, you will know right where you are. This Wii game will humble the biggest know it all. Three members of the family can play Jeopardy at the same time using the Wii Remotes, or Wii Speak. If you happen to be alone, then you can let the computer play against you. They get to have their names written out, which looks so much cooler than my Miis name in that font. I know, complain, complain, complain.

The incorporation of the Mii characters all over Jeopardy is pretty cool. Alex Trebek has this weird shuffle when he walks out, but it seems to fit the atmosphere of Jeopardy for the Wii. The board where the categories are looks great. It made me feel like I was looking at it on the set of the show. Players can do different positive and negative animated whenever they want during the game show. Characters will give default negative and positive animations based on the situation in the game.

There is quite a bit of text that is read during a game of Jeopardy. There are numerous questions, and things like Daily Doubles that shake things up. I enjoyed hearing Mr Trebek's voice while playing this game. I was a little disappointed in how he would say somethings, and things that were not said. Being called Player one, Player two, and Player three all the time was a little annoying. Alex also sounded disgusted when I would buzz in, or disinterested. A little more excitement would have been nice. I also completely answered an entire category on more than one occasion, and the game said nothing about it. Doing that on the real game show would have received a comment.

What has over 2,400 clues in it? Jeopardy on the Wii. The various categories will make hundreds of games fresh, fun, and feel like the real game show. Family Friendly Gaming was given a reviewable copy of Jeopardy for the Wii. If you like the game show on television, then you will enjoy this game on the Wii, and feel your money was utilized intelligently. There are numerous achievements for family members in Jeopardy that will also increase the replay value.

Jeopardy is pretty easy to figure out, but extremely difficult to master. There are categories, and dollar amounts. The higher the dollar amount the more difficult the question. Answer correctly and you get to pick the next category. Answer correctly and you get that dollar amount, miss it though, and you lose that dollar amount. It is possible to go negative in Jeopardy. Once you buzz in the screen gives a choice of different answers. It is possible to guess and get it right, but I found that to be an amazing gamble. If no one answers then it goes to whoever picked to pick the next one. The commercial break mini games are cool, and are a nice inclusion on this Wii disc.

The ESRB noted a few issues with Jeopardy. There are some questions that revolve around touchy topics like violence, alcohol, and tobacco. I did not run into these topics very often, but they are present. Jeopardy is a great way for families to test their knowledge and learn numerous interesting facts. Who knows maybe some day you will get the opportunity to appear on the real Jeopardy game show. I would love to translate my winnings in Jeopardy on the Wii into something tangible. Maybe a sequel will have something like that.
