Ivy the Kiwi

I love it so much when a game puts a funny character in the name. You know something like a question mark. It just makes my day. For those not familiar with my sense of humor I am being sarcastic. The funny thing is that is about the worst thing in Ivy the Kiwi? on the Wii. I had gotten a taste of Ivy the Kiwi? at E3 in the year of our Lord 2010. A cute little bird who has not completely come out of her shell is walking along. The player must draw vines to get her over spikes, rats, birds, and other such dangers. This seems really easy, but oh can it get complex.

Ivy the Kiwi? has a storybook feel to it, which makes sense since there is a storybook connection. Many of the colors are subdued, and there are special effects that give that feeling. I have to admit I am not overly thrilled about the graphics in some levels. The little bird is cute, and animates amazingly well. After a few levels I had adapted, and was navigating quickly through the levels. Ivy can blast through rocks if you launch her from a vine. Just avoid spikes, and other creatures.

It has been a long time since a video game character brought a smile to my face when they made sounds. Ivy the Kiwi? had me smiling the first goal I got to. Then that smile came back every additional goal I reached. The music fits Ivy the Kiwi? perfectly, and I just love listening to it. The music has this magical feel to it that really drew me in. The storyline of a little bird trying to find her mother resonates nicely here at Family Friendly Gaming.

Ivy the Kiwi? contains over 100 challenging levels. Four players can enjoy this Wii game at the same time. The majority of Ivy the Kiwi? is unlockable content. Some players will rush through levels whereas others will want to find every single feather in each and every level. Family Friendly Gaming was given a reviewable copy of Ivy the Kiwi? on the Wii. With that said, I believe this Wii game is worth the price of admission.

The longer I am a gamer, the more it takes for a video game to really draw me in. Ivy the Kiwi? got me hooked almost instantly. The play mechanic of using these vines to guide Ivy around is fantastic. I made mistakes while I was playing this game, but was able to recover very quickly almost always. The difficulty level in Ivy the Kiwi? has a nice curve. I found myself blowing through early levels, and then having to adapt my game play in later levels. Everyone here at Family Friendly Gaming had fun playing Ivy the Kiwi? on the Wii.

Ivy the Kiwi? earns the rarely given, and much sought after seal of approval. Ivy the Kiwi? taught me to avoid pitfalls, and to protect this curious little critter. I really hope there will be sequels to Ivy the Kiwi? in the near future. I will be recommending Ivy the Kiwi? to friends, family, and pastors I know. It was my personal pleasure and joy to play and review Ivy the Kiwi? on the Wii. Ivy the Kiwi? is safe for the entire family.
