Hidden Objects Mystery Stories

Family Friendly Gaming has received numerous I Spy kind of video games. Many of them are on the Nintendo DS, which is good since they work well on that system. None of these previous games have been quite like Hidden Objects Mystery Stories. This hand held game is part mystery and part puzzle game. The storyline was something this reviewer was not expecting to experience.

The rating and descriptors is what families will first notice about this Nintendo DS video game. In fact I had to take a puff of an inhaler after reading all of them. Yes I am joking about the inhaler. Hidden Objects Mystery Stories has a lot of content, and some of it seems overkill to me. The game includes cigarettes and alcohol bottles as items that can be found. This is not like encouraging people to use those products in my humble opinion.

Graphically there is a lot going on in Hidden Objects Mystery Stories. There are things like blood on a shirt, and the previously mentioned vices. Players need to use their eyes when playing Hidden Objects Mystery Stories. Many of the items are hidden surprisingly well. I wound up using hints on numerous levels. By the way, finding the extra hints in the form of a sun is the first thing smart players search for. The violent content in Hidden Objects Mystery Stories is very light.

The music in Hidden Objects Mystery Stories is mellow. It helped me relax me as I was looking around for hidden items on the screens. Why would anyone need to be relaxed while performing this mental exercise? Hidden Objects Mystery Stories has a clock that is counting down. Pressing all around trying to find items will make time evaporate even quicker. I noticed a few language issues, and some innuendo.

Hidden Objects Mystery Stories contains forty locations, one hundred eighty puzzles/mini games, and 1,150 hidden objects. That is a lot! Specific mini games are more fun than others. I enjoyed looking around the beautiful screens to try and find the various hidden items. The down side to Hidden Objects Mystery Stories is the collision detection. I would tap on an item that was on the list, and it did not register. I found I would have to tap on a different part of the item. This grew frustrating when it took time away from me, and I was tapping on the item. This did not happen all the time, but enough for me to obsess over.

There are a couple of different things going on with Hidden Objects Mystery Stories. First off you are searching screens to find hidden items, or playing little puzzle mini games. The second part of Hidden Objects Mystery Stories is the mystery storyline. I like the storyline idea, but there are moral and ethical issues involved with a mystery. Someone is up to some serious no good. The 'E10+' rating should be followed at a minimum. I hope to see sequels to this franchise in the future.
