Fifa Soccer 11

Soccer fans can rejoice as FIFA SOCCER 11 is available to play on the Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and the hand helds. I am reviewing the home console version of the game. EA Sports was kind enough to provide Family Friendly Gaming with a reviewable copy on the Playstation 3. FIFA SOCCER 11 allows players to be the goalie for the first time. Yes you can stand in the back and watch the action from afar. At some point the other team will come your way, and you can try and stop them from scoring. That can be a very humbling experience.

The little visual details in FIFA SOCCER 11 are awe inspiring. I noticed little things here and there that show amazing polish. The players animate realistically in FIFA SOCCER 11 in all aspects. The uniforms flow as I would expect them to, and there is a lot of diversity in the players. Substitutions are one of the best screens to see this. I noticed the fans getting up as a goal was scored, or almost scored. Play the goalie to enjoy how much detail was put into this game.

The announcers in FIFA SOCCER 11 are pretty good. I had to pay attention to their comments a few times due to their accents. FIFA SOCCER 11 contains a long list of music. There are some good songs, and some not so good songs. EA Sports has gotten really smart about the music, and FIFA SOCCER 11 is no exception. Families can go into the song list and turn individual songs off. Don't like something, just remove it from the play list. There is a lot of customization here as well. Families can create their own chants, and bring in their songs from the hard drive.

If you enjoy soccer games, then you will find your money well spent on FIFA SOCCER 11. There are multiple online modes, multiple career modes, and multiple play it now modes. You can be a player, a coach, or a player coach. FIFA SOCCER 11 has an extreme amount of online tracking in the connected leaderboards. You can compare yourself to gamers all over the world. FIFA SOCCER 11 lets us play a team's season, or create our very own team.

I still have problems with being offsides when I play soccer games. FIFA SOCCER 11 is no exception. The control scheme is easy to pick up in this home console game. EA Sports was also very kind, and offer various control schemes. Soccer is usually a low scoring sport, so do not think you will have massive amounts of goals. The ebb and flow in FIFA SOCCER 11 is very realistic. I had fun playing FIFA SOCCER 11, even though I am not really into this sport.

FIFA SOCCER 11 calls the sport football. This is accurate for how the world depicts it. This may lead to some confusion as the game is called FIFA SOCCER 11. Maybe that is just me, but it strikes me as odd. Penalties are frowned upon in FIFA SOCCER 11. I like how the game encourages playing clean. I may have mocked the whole goalie option, but it is actually a neat feature. It will keep you on your toes if you get easily distracted. Getting scored on because you were not paying attention is just embarrassing. Not as bad as trying to stop the ball, and watching it go right by. Or lunging one direction only to see the ball go the other. FIFA SOCCER 11 lets you embarrass goalies, and be embarrassed as the goalie.
