Eyepet

Sony sent Family Friendly Gaming this interesting little package with Eyepet. The game comes with a little unit that plugs into the top of the Playstation Portable (PSP). This includes a camera and a microphone on a small little cylinder. The camera can rotate around so it can point at the player or away. I spent most of my time with the camera pointed away. The intense looks on my face when it pointed towards me only frightened me. There is also a magic card that must be kept in the frame at all times. Otherwise your little pet will relax in a bubble until the card is found.

Eyepet has a light look and feel to it. Plenty of bright colors fill this cute little world. The camera has things looking very realistic, and the Eyepet interacts with the real world amazingly well. I did not noticed the seams or any separation between the images. I knew the Eyepet was not in the real world, but this is still an impressive feat. Numerous styling, and clothing options are available so you do not need to keep him in the default look. I did not find any offensive images while I played Eyepet for the PSP.

The professor that instructs us how to play Eyepet is actually funny. He is educational at the same time, which makes him better than many professors I had in my academic career. Plus he is not trying to shove some political agenda down all the student's throats. The Eyepet animates in a very family friendly manner. The music in Eyepet is upbeat, fun, and fresh. I heard no offensive sounds while playing Eyepet. Getting to record my call to him was a nice touch.

There are an insane amount of accessories in Eyepet. Almost every single one is unlockable. Play the various mini games to unlock the content, and do well enough to unlock more mini games. Part of the fun of Eyepet is taking pictures of your Eyepet in various locations. The camera has decent looking pictures that I appreciated. The price for this package is pretty good considering everything that comes with it.

It is so cool to super impose a cartoon animal on everyday places and things. The mini games in Eyepet are fun, and very easy to learn. Eyepet is one of those games that all ages of the family can enjoy. I had a fun time with Eyepet on the PSP. With all of that said there are a couple of issues I ran into with this hand held video game. The first one is the card. This is annoying, especially having to keep the PSP still at certain points, and always focuses on the card. The little car driving game gave me fits in terms of controls. It is playable, but there were times it frustrated me.

I hope Sony keeps coming up with ideas like Eyepet in the future. This game could become an amazing franchise if there was a lot more to do, and if we could lose that card. I will be talking to family, friends, and pastors I personally know about Eyepet on the PSP. It was my personal pleasure to be able to play and review this PSP game. The future of virtual pets has come, and it is Eyepet.
