Dragon Ball Origins

Little by little I have been growing into the Family Friendly Gaming Dragonball expert. I never set out to earn that distinction, it has just been happening. Dragonball Origins takes us to the beginning for Goku, Bulma, and more well known franchise characters. Goku is a little boy, and he learns quite a few things. He meets his first female, and discovers differences. He also quests for the Dragonballs. Families will want to note the ‘T’ for Teen rating. There is a lot of content in this video game that is not appropriate for children. In fact exposing kids to this kind of content could easily fit under the definition of child abuse.

Atari tries an interesting 3D look for the characters. The angled overhead view diminishes that attempt in my eyes. Dragonball Origins contains a lot of violence. The player must whack all kinds of enemies. Special powers are earned as the player progresses for more powerful attacks. There is also nudity in Dragonball Origins. The details are not the greatest, but it is nudity all the same. There are also some repugnant things like a young girl flashing an old man. This kind of content was not needed, and could have easily been avoided.

The music in Dragonball Origins is really catchy. I was jamming to it while I was playing. There is an eastern flavor in some areas, and that was cool. The sexual jokes came way too often in Dragonball Origins for me. This goes back to things that could have been left out. The crude humor is something that brings Dragonball Origins down.

There are some neat little collectibles in Dragonball Origins for fans of the anime. You will need to search every nook and cranny to find them all. There is a multicard mode so two players can play this game together. The down side is not all of the extras are clean. So after great effort to earn something you can become very disappointed at what it turned out to be, I found Dragonball Origins for a very good price at a local retailer. Even though I did not spend a lot of money I feel like it was wasted.

I have issues with the controls in Dragonball Origins. For some reason the touch screen controls did not always function as I expected them to. That made playing Dragonball Origins more frustrating than it should have been. Certain techniques are touchy in terms of controls. I wound up dying a lot more often than I should have.

Dragonball Origins contains plenty of odd things in it. This is a Japanese franchise that was not regionalized for America very well. Cross dressing, marrying little girls, and other such repulsive concepts are contained within this DS game. You probably already read that a sequel has been announced. I hope and pray it is cleaned up - a lot.
