Disney Tangled
SCORE: 83
Disney Tangled on the Nintendo DS is based on the movie of the same
name. Rapunzel is imprisoned in a tower thanks to Mother Gothel. She
uses her magical hair to regain her youth by kidnapping her. Rapunzel
sees these floating lights the same day every year. Her parents (the
king and queen) light these lights every year on her birthday. The thief
Flynn Rider tries to hide in the tower, which set them off on a quest of
discovery.
The core of Disney Tangled is helping others. Collecting ingredients,
befriending animals, and putting things back together. I believe the
target audience for Disney Tangled is young girls. Although some boys
will enjoy this Nintendo DS video game. Combing leaves out of hair will
not appeal to them, but painting on Flynn's wanted posters will.
The graphics in Disney Tangled are bright and colorful. The characters
look small to me, but this is a hand held. The graffiti players get to
do on wanted posters can be viewed as humorous or troublesome. I fell
somewhere in between. Many of the graphical elements in Disney Tangled
are re-used. This is especially true for the mini games.
The music and special effect sounds in Disney Tangled are marvelous. The
special effect sounds are magical, especially when I found those suns.
Disney Tangled hides suns all over the place and they are one of the
collectible items. I like how the thief goes out of his way to help the
princess. It is an issue for me that Rapunzel is helping the thief stay
free - even though he deserves to be caught.
The main extra in Disney Tangled is DGamer. Which is a great extra for a
lot of little girls. The package Family Friendly Gaming received also
included a hair brush. The mini games range from memory to coming leaves
out of hair. They get played enough during the game that replaying them
over and over again is not a desire after beating this DS game. The
length of Disney Tangled is good and will keep kids busy for a week or
two.
Disney Tangled auto-saves after each chapter. The one problem with this
is chapters can take awhile. If this were a home console game that would
not be a problem. This is a Nintendo DS game which means being able to
pick up play for five minutes, save, and turn it off are expected. The
mini games, and screen navigation work masterfully in Disney Tangled.
I feel so bad for Rapunzel. She lived with a lie for so many years. It
takes a thief to motivate her into action. Seeking truth is one of the
main lessons in Disney Tangled. Like I wrote before I am not thrilled
about helping out a thief, but God can use anyone to achieve a good end
result. No I am not being supportive of the ends justify the means.
Disney Tangled is a fun game that girls will definitely enjoy.
