There are some movies that are a real treat to review. Despicable Me
fits into that category. I knew very little about this film. I am
normally so busy with Family Friendly Gaming that I rarely get to the
movie theater. I had heard about Despicable Me, and knew my own son was
excited about it. So when Family Friendly Gaming received a reviewable
copy, I was curious.
A mad scientist evil villain finds himself in competition with a younger
mad scientist evil villain. When the Great Pyramid gets stolen, he has
to hatch a plan to steal something even bigger. He targets the moon.
Along the way he meets three orphan girls.
One of the real joys in Despicable Me are the minions. These cute little
guys are used for comic relief, as well as help out the doctor. They
take damaged from a wide array of lethal weapons. There is also some
peril in this film. The animation is top notch, and numerous visual
gags.
Steve Carell does an amazing job with the voice acting in Despicable Me.
Actually all of the voice actors do a great job in this film. The
minions have their own kind of speech which is generally nonsense. Here
and there they say real words. Despicable Me looks at what is really
important in life. Even an evil villain can realize that love is better
than achieving some dream.
The three mini movies starring the minions headline the bonus features
of Despicable Me. Trust me, they are hilarious and relate to the film.
The Voices of Despicable Me, Super Silly Fun Land,Miss Hattie's Top
Secret Cookie Recipes, Commentary with the directors, Despicable Beats,
Gru Rocket Builder and more are included on the discs. There are various
packages. Family Friendly Gaming received the Blu-ray plus DVD plus
Digital Copy. The prices I found online are very reasonable for this
package.
The menu screens function correctly. I ran into no issues navigating
from screen to screen, and back again. The story in Despicable Me is a
lot of fun, and has some interesting twists and turns. I will not spoil
it for our readers. I will say that there is a lot more humor in
Despicable Me than I was expecting. There are also some life lessons in
this movie.
Despicable Me really warmed my heart, and this is a great time of year
for that (editor: written at Christmas time). Despicable Me teaches not
to throw away someone because they are older, and that love is
important. The importance of family, and thankfulness are also lessons
in Despicable Me. I really enjoyed the universe in this film, and hope
for a sequel in the future. It was a real pleasure to watch and review
this movie.
