Chime

Family Friendly Gaming seal of approval

SCORE: 95

Chime

One of the coolest things about Chime on the Xbox 360 (editor: Xbox Live) is more than 60 percent of the purchase price of Chime will be donated to children's charities around the world, helping those who need it the most. This kind of a move from developer Zoe Mode, and publisher Valcon Games is fantastic. It certainly grabs the attention of media outlets like Family Friendly Gaming.

The visual aspects of Chime are very important to the game play. As you place the shapes on the background you create blocks. These blocks load, giving the player time to chain to them for larger blocks. Once that loading is done the background is an all new color. The goal is to acquire as much of the level as possible. Thankfully the game is very generous in this regard.

If the visual aspects of Chime was all there was I would have been happy. However there is even more included in this downloadable video game. There is a musical aspect. A bar goes across the screen and chimes with the music. This is very cool. There is also some fantastic music in Chime. I could happily sit there and listen to songs that relaxed me.

I believe Chime is absolutely perfect in the replay and extras section. First off the price is very low - 400 Microsoft points. I was given a download code because of Family Friendly Gaming. If I would have known about it beforehand, I would have purchased this fantastic puzzle game myself. Chime includes various modes and ways to play to keep gamers busy for weeks.

The various shapes in Chime reminded me of Tetris 2. However the game play is so unique that I consider this to be a total stand alone puzzle game. I had a lot of fun playing Chime, especially when I was stringing together shapes, and making them larger. I got to thinking about different shapes and how they fit together.

Chime is one of those games that is great for families. First off it does not cost a lot. Secondly it is safe for the entire family. Third they are helping Save the Children and Starlight Children's foundation. I find this companies actions very honorable, and deserving of attention. I hope to see sequels to this franchise, and hope it is ported to other video game machines. Chime earns the Family Friendly Gaming seal of approval.
