In an attempt to reach the casual gamer, Destineer compiled four popular games into one entertaining title – Casual Mania. The four games included are Marble Popper, Hidden Object game, Match 3 and a time management game. Gamers will be familiar with a couple of these games as they are popular puzzle games that have been around for a while. Even with the familiarity of the games, Destineer did a great job of making them distinct and fun in a unique way.
In the Hidden Object game, you will investigate and solve a painting theft case in the Louvre. There are twelve rooms and exciting mini-games available in the Hidden Object game. Match 3 is a classic, bejeweled-like game that can become almost addictive. Marble Popper is a representation of the puzzle game with various power ups and game modes. The Time Management game gives you the opportunity to manage a beauty parlor. The trick is to serve all of the incoming customers in a timely manner, while keeping them from leaving the salon.
The presentation of the game is simplistic and user friendly. The main screen has 6 buttons - one for each game and one for settings and one for pictures (which are earned from completing the game). I did notice that it is necessary to press the desired selection twice in order to move forward. This was a little confusing at first, but once you realize it is required, you get used to it.
The menu screens are simplistic and ordinary, but once you get to the
desired game the graphics are more colorful and bright. The music and
sound effects are adequate, but do get repetitive after a few minutes.
The volume for each can be adjusted in the settings menu (which are
actually the only options in the settings menu).
Gamers will find this title to be one of those games that is hard to put
down. Casual Mania gives you the opportunity to play some of the most
popular puzzle games on the go. I would like to see better presentation
and more options in future editions of Casual Mania. This game can
encourage strategy, problem solving and time management. All members of
the family can enjoy Casual Mania for hours of fun.
