Cars

Cars from Disney Pixar is huge in the family friendly realm. There have been a ton of video games based on this movie, and I have finally gotten around to writing a review on the DVD. Cars tells the growth story of a race car who learns what it means to care about, and for others. Through a series of unexpected events Lightning McQueen finds himself in the almost dead town of Radiator Springs. Tow Mater provides the comic relief. This DVD also contains a little sub-plot where Doc Hudson has healing for his wounded heart.

The animation, and clever usage of various vehicles is top notch in Cars. Tractors are given a cow kind of personality, and there are plenty of other characters on this DVD. There is also a lot of beauty in Cars, that range from the scenery to the revitalized town at night. Part of Cars is a love story between Stickers (aka Lightning), and Sally. I like how clean Disney Pixar kept this love.

The sound track is very professional, and themed in Cars. My kids had to have the sound track because it reminds them of Cars. Shoot, and dang are some of the worst words used in Cars. I did notice one sexual reference from Mater, which was not really needed. My kids did not comprehend it, so that is it’s only saving grace.

Cars contains an awesome amount of extras. Some of these are Mater and the Ghostlight, One Man Band, deleted scenes, previews, and the inspiration for Cars. This is one of those rare movies that our family has seen so many times that I have lost track. When we first got Cars, our youngest only wanted to watch it for at least a month. I think we wore out a DVD player watching this movie. I feel Cars is worth the money, because I paid for our copy.

The menu screens function as I wanted them to, and I found moving around the screens to be simple. I like the storyline, and really only have one request - another movie. The world created in Cars is a fun one that shows creativity, and imagination. Things like planes, RV’s, and more have become toys for years. Cars has become a phenomenon that millions of families enjoy.

Lightning starts out very selfish, and really matures in this movie. He accepts his place, and thinks about others. He turns into a real class act. The DVD adaptation contains a lot of great content for families. The only caution I give is this - Cars is so engaging that you might find yourself wanting to purchase a lot of Cars related stuff. We have bed sheets, clothing, posters, and toys based on Cars. Our children love Cars. To be honest I do not mind because of how wholesome this franchise is.
