Disney has expanded their entertainment empire over the last 10 years with original TV series, movies and Disney Radio. One of the biggest Disney original movies series is Camp Rock. The second Camp Rock movie, Camp Rock: The Final Jam, was recently released to TV and DVD, and Disney Interactive Studios brought the Camp Rock: The Final Jam experience to the Nintendo DS. Camp Rock: The Final Jam the movie follows the summer of two rival music camps – Camp Rock and Camp Star – and their feud leads to a spectacular TV event, reminiscent of an American Idol finale. The movie includes amazing wardrobes, fun music and entertaining dance routines. Can Camp Rock: The Final Jam for the DS capture the magic that has made this series such a success?
Camp Rock: The Final Jam includes some of the memorable moments from the film. Gamers will be able to create their own Camp Rocker and interact with their favorite Camp Rockers from the movie, as well as some new characters developed for the DS. Enjoying music as much as I do, playing along to some of the movie tracks was one of my favorite parts of the game. Gamers can use the stylist to play along using drums, guitar or the bass. Think of Rock band with a stylist. The implementation of this control system was well done. I did not want to put it down.
Also available is the ability to participate in dance routines. This was easy and fun to pick up. The stylist is used to master the dance steps. Games also have the chance to enjoy some fun camp activities. Kids will have a blast with the canoe races and balloon fights – I know I did. The controls for the camp games are easy to master for even the youngest of Camp Rockers. While walking around the Camp, gamers can collect tokens to be used for buying accessories, instruments and much more.
Disney Interactive Studios did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of the movie and bringing it to the Nintendo handheld. From the dance steps, music and even the costumes, Camp Rock: The Final Jam brings the Disney experience to gamers of all ages. The soundtrack includes songs from the movie and sounds really good on the DS. Also impressive are graphics used to portray the Camp Rock: The Final Jam environments. The costumes and settings are very bright and colorful.
Camp Rock: The Final Jam is an entertaining game for music fans of
all ages. Fans of the movie series and Disney TV will no doubt enjoy
Camp Rock: The Final Jam. Parents will be able to use Camp Rock: The
Final Jam to discuss things like competition and facing challenges.
Parents do not have to worry about suggestive costumes or inappropriate
lyrics in the songs. I enjoyed Camp Rock: The Final Jam and look forward
to future titles produced by Disney Interactive Studios.
