Bermuda Triangle Saving the Coral
SCORE: 80
Bermuda Triangle Saving
the Coral is a fun little puzzle game with an message. The message is to
save the Coral. The WMG is completely serious. Bermuda Triangle Saving
the Coral also references Global Warming. You know the once popular
politically correct concept that has recently been exposed as
fraudulent? Players match three of the same kind, and increase the
health of the coral reef. The three items being matched are nutrients.
Snails, sharks, and other sea creatures try to get in your way.
There are a lot of bright colors in Bermuda Triangle Saving the Coral.
The art style is neat, and the ocean theme fits this game perfectly.
Players can get rid of the sea creatures with weapons like anchors. The
cartoon violence is mild, and short lived. The nutrients just vanish in
a puff when three or more are matched. It is important to note that they
need to be in a certain configuration (editor: like in a line).
The WMG really enjoyed the music in Bermuda Triangle Saving the Coral.
The voice telling us combos, double combos, and complete was really off.
The first time the WMG heard that voice, it completely freaked this
reviewer out. The whole save the coral is interesting, however the WMG
can not see how matching three items helps in any way shape or form.
Kids will leave this game concerned about the coral reefs.
Bermuda Triangle Saving the Coral has a couple ways of playing. Compared
to other puzzle games on the Nintendo DS it is lacking. The WMG was able
to quickly swim through the story mode. The time mode, and endless are
available for gamers after that. Only one player can play Bermuda
Triangle Saving the Coral at a time. There are different boats that can
be unlocked.
The puzzle action in Bermuda Triangle Saving the Coral is awesome. The
WMG has not played a puzzle game like this. The water effects with
dropping items into the water is really cool. The implementation of
octopus inking blocks, as well as air bubbles around certain ones are
excellent ideas. The layout of the screen may have been interesting on
the Playstation Portable. The puzzle action is pretty fun in this DS
game.
Gamers will learn matching, and general physics by playing Bermuda
Triangle Saving the Coral. There is also the environmentalist lesson on
saving the coral. The WMG found it a little over the top to demonize
people who harvest the coral as pirates. Bermuda Triangle Saving the
Coral is light hearted in its presentation. The WMG would like to see
sequels to the gameplay in Bermuda Triangle Saving the Coral.
