Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction

Ben 10 is back on the Nintendo DS in the form of Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction. This hand held video game takes Ben through a new mission to save the earth. I have a little familiarity with this franchise, but not a whole lot. I know Ben uses a device to transform into various different characters. Each of these characters have a real alien look to them. They each have different powers which makes it perfect for a video game. Numerous franchise characters make appearances in Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction.

The visuals come in two modes in Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction. There are the cut scenes which look fantastic, and then the main levels. The Nintendo DS is not known to be a graphical powerhouse. With that said I could tell what every character was in Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction. Some of the same enemies are used over and over again in the same levels. To me each level felt like an invasion. Players are required to punch, kick, and use special powers to get rid of them. There are areas where the player can run past them, and spots where they have to all be destroyed. To me it is more of a challenge to avoid them, their attacks and perform the jumps across chasms.

Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction contains some serious attitude in the form of specific characters. I noted quite a few different insults, and mocking of other characters. This is where the E10+ rating comes in. The dialogue is more intelligent than I was expecting, and the characters have a familiarity with one another. The music fits the theme of this DS game, and the special effects are good.

The levels in Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction are really long. This hand held game starts out easy, but it amps up the difficulty after a couple of levels. There are various hidden areas where items can be acquired. After that there are few reasons to replay this side scrolling action adventure game. Ben 10 fans will love this game mainly for the play mechanics.

Did someone mention play mechanics? Swapping between characters is very simple in Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction. The touch screen has his change device. Touch it to bring up all the different things he can become. Then touch the one you want to be. It is that simple. The downside is bad guys do not stop attacking you while you are making your selection. So swapping during the heat of battle can be annoying.

Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Cosmic Destruction teaches us to use the special powers we have been granted to save the earth from the alien menace. Fight to protect the earth, keep powerful items from evil people, and power corrupts. I never really understood the motive of all the creatures that kept attacking. I appreciated the long levels, and quick character swapping ability. I do find it interesting that Ben is out to get a powerful device so he can use it, and keep it out of the hands of another character.
