Battlestar Galactica 4.0
SCORE: 60
I was in for a major shock when I started watching Battlestar Galactica 4.0. This DVD package starts out with the Razor movie. I was not expecting that. In fact I was expecting a repeat of the season 2.0, and 2.5 debacle. So it is a step in the right direction. Sadly that is about all this show moved in the right direction in this package. The four new Cylons are struggling with who and what they are. One of them embraces their role, whereas the three others fight against it, and struggle to remain human. I hate to say it, but a lot of the plot points in Battlestar Galactica 4.0. feels rushed. I wonder if they thought this was it, so they needed to wrap up their loose ends.
The blood and gore continues in Battlestar Galactica 4.0. I wound up losing count of how many wound up dying in this season. There were some fantastic characters killed off as well as families. There are also quite a few sexual deviants in this show. The only thing this show does not show is a happy, healthy normal family unit. Drinking and drugs flow freely in this fleet. They have problems finding food, but they got enough booze and drugs to keep them busy.
If my mother could get ahold of the producers of this show, they would be tasting soap for months. The language in Battlestar Galactica 4.0. is absolutely disgusting. I served in the military, and no one had a mouth like these characters. They were not saints, but nothing anywhere near the level this show depicts.
Every single episode has a commentary, and deleted scenes. The shows tell a story that is interesting the first time through, but honestly there is no real reason to every re-watch Battlestar Galactica 4.0. I am finding few redeeming reasons to watch this show in the first place to be blunt.
Battlestar Galactica 4.0 continues the storyline, and finally gets the fleet and part of the Cylons to earth (editor: their thirteenth colony). The excitement of reaching earth ends with heart break that the civilization is long since dead. The menu screens are okay, but they could have been more efficient with them.
Baltar gets turned into a
prophet, and his group is considered a cult. He comes close to acting
like Christ in a few episodes, and goes into strange teachings in
others. In one episode he claims we are all perfect, and that is why God
loves us. Multiple gods belief continues as the dominate religion. In
Battlestar Galactica 4.0. This show is not for children, and I am
praying about whether I want to continue watching this show.
