Battlestar Galactica 2.0
SCORE: 59
One of my biggest personal frustrations is DVD sets that are not an entire season. Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 is only ten episodes. For some reason (greed perhaps) Sci-Fi Channel split season two up into 2.0, and 2.5. The best price I could find Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 for was the same price as an entire season of most other television shows (20 dollars). So finding out I spent the same money to get half of a season was my inauguration to this DVD package.
Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 picks up with the cliffhanger from Season 1.0. Their universe is really, really messed up. Things slowly start to settle down as forgiveness is offered but not asked for. The violence, blood, and gore is pushed even farther out into space in Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0. The portrayal of marriage is also under attack, and adultery is shown as a good thing. Thankfully a rape is stopped, but the emphasis on humanoid Cylons not deserving rights is expressed in a loud voice.
The gods element is the focus of the president, and she is seen as a
prophet. Tigh turns the military into a dictatorship and winds up
becoming a villain to freedom. Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0 is a show
that is for adults only. There are a lot of interesting issues dealt
with, however I come back from most shows saying they made all the wrong
decisions.
