Bass Pro Shops The Hunt
SCORE: 70
Bass Pro Shops The Hunt is an intriguing hunting game. Family
Friendly Gaming was blessed with the Wii version. Getting the Wii Remote
and Nunchuk into that rifle can take a few attempts. The directions are
easy to follow, and make a lot of sense. Once you do that you have
something that sort of resembles a rifle. The police will not shoot you
if they see you with it though. At least it is my hope and prayer they
could tell the difference. The controller did not feel right, and it
makes the controls pretty loose. I had more fun playing without the
rifle apparatus.
The visuals have a real forest feel to them in Bass Pro Shops The Hunt.
The details are lacking, and when you zoom in certain things do not look
that great. Bushes, and tree branches are the best example. The animals
animate realistically. There are also various animals around. I saw
rabbits, raccoons, duck, deer, bears and more. That brings up a point,
you are not the only predator out there. I was a little surprised
hunters were not wearing orange in this game. The game does not allow
you to shoot humans though.
I have hunted for many a year. I am very in tune with the sounds of the
forest. Bass Pro Shops The Hunt does an excellent job of making me feel
like I am really there. This is one area that this game excels. The
rifle sounds in Bass Pro Shops The Hunt are also very realistic. I did
not hear any sounds, or hear any language in Bass Pro Shops The Hunt
that is offensive.
There are over twenty species of game in Bass Pro Shops The Hunt.
Various regions, and contest to play in this hunting game. The developer
Piranha Games could have stopped there and had a decent game. They
decided to go farther and include a lot of different equipment, and
included some mini games. A few of the mini games are similar to full
games I have played by other developers. The Xbox 360 version of this
game allows the players to show off on the leaderboards, and download
additional content.
I will be blunt about something. I found the rifle peripheral to be too
difficult to play with. The controls are way too loose in it. I found
the sensitivity options and dropped it down. It was still too loose.
Once I took the controllers out of it, it worked a lot better. There are
still some issues though. The ATV does not control realistically at all.
I could get that vehicle completely sideways on a narrow bridge with no
hope of getting it back. The plus side is you can pull a U-turn on a
dime. The shooting controls work well, and hunting is very exciting in
Bass Pro Shops The Hunt. I did find out that I was not holding the rifle
correctly, and holding it the right way improved gameplay.
I have always considered hunting to be an important life skill. We hunt
for meat. Bass Pro Shops The Hunt does not show the dead bodies of the
animals, and there is a lot less blood than I was expecting. Bass Pro
Shops The Hunt does have some nice presentation in terms of the kill
shot. The player gets to follow the bullet down to the animal. If that
kind of activity bothers you, then by all means pass on this game. I had
fun playing this game.
