Arcade Darts

Icon Games Entertainment is starting to impress us here at Family Friendly Gaming. Arcade Darts is their second downloadable title that we are reviewing. This game is on the Playstation 3 (PS3), and Playstation Portable (PSP) for a mere $3.99. I suppose it is more accurate to state this is a PSP Mini game. If you download it on your PS3 before transferring it, then you can play this game on the PS3. Family Friendly Gaming was granted a reviewable copy from the publisher.

Graphically the darts, and dart boards (yes plural my friends) look pretty good. The pool halls, or wherever the boards are located are not so inviting. There are various avatars available for the player to select from. Thankfully they are all kept family friendly. Not all of them have loving or pleasant looks on their faces, but they are not scary looking either. Icon Games Entertainment kept the animations on the action, and that is honestly all we need in a dart board game.

I was enjoying the music in Arcade Darts. Something interesting of note is the darts move back in forth before you throw them. This determines how straight you throw the dart. I noticed this moved in time with the music. Little things like that in a bargain priced downloadable game stick out in my opinion. I did not hear any offensive language or sounds while playing Arcade Darts on the PSP.

I feel that Arcade Darts is worth the price of admission. There are enough dart boards, and darts to unlock to keep gamers busy for a couple of weeks at least. The Career mode will take some replay to complete, and the different dart board games will also require various attempts. If you have any interest in darts then you will find your money well spent on Arcade Darts.

There are six different game variations in Arcade Darts. They are 301, 501, 701, Around the Clock, Around the Clock Reverse and Cricket. Thankfully the rules are included under the options section. I had Paul help me with where the doubles were on the board, and once I had those two nuggets of information I was doing really good. The difficulty level in Arcade Darts is at exactly the right place. I loved how I could get better and experiment with the controls in the Practice area. Arcade Darts includes various game play modes such as a Career, Versus, Custom, and Arcade (editor: on top of Practice).

It took me a bit to get used to the rhythm of when to hit the buttons to select the left right, and front back placement. Once I had that down I was having a lot of fun with this family friendly title. I really hope to see sequels to Arcade Darts in the near future. Icon Games Entertainment has a good thing in terms of this game. I will be recommending this game to friends, and family members I know.
