10 Things I hate about you
SCORE: 68
I fondly remember the movie 10 Things I hate about you. The movie has
some issues, but it was a very interesting premise. When I heard about
10 Things I hate about you Volume One, I was very curious to see how a
television show with the same theme would fare. ABC Family is behind
this show, so I had a lot of high hopes and expectations. The TV-14
rating should be completely obeyed. After reading my full review you
will know why. The actor who played the father from the movie is also
the father in the television show. He does a lot for the show.
10 Things I hate about you Volume One has a lot of wonderful things
going for it visually. The attire choices of the characters generally is
good, and family friendly. There are some cleavage shown, and a short
scene where girls behinds are being focused on. There are also some
scenes with male characters not wearing their shirts. None of them are
long, but they do add up in the ten episodes on these two discs. The
most shocking scene has two girls kissing.
Children do not need to be listening to 10 Things I hate about you
Volume One. There is language issues, and kids would pick up bad words
thanks to this show. You really do not want to be in the principals
office explaining where they heard such language. Various characters are
performing different degrees of deception. There is a lot of comedy in
10 Things I hate about you Volume One. Unfortunately some of the comedy
is sexual in nature. The girls are constantly rebelling against their
father and disrespecting him in ways that are wrong on so many levels.
I found some cool stuff in the extras on these discs. The pilot episode
of Make It or Break It, Bloopers, Backstage pass, audio commentary, and
10 Things I Hate vs. 10 Things I Love are included. The bloopers is my
favorite extra on 10 Things I hate about you Volume One. I was surprised
to hear how long their days are working on this television show. I could
not handle working that many hours a day, even for the amount of money
they are making.
I caught some interesting lessons while watching 10 Things I hate about
you Volume One. There is a selfishness, and a lack of compassion to left
leaning political activists. The activist sister is very stubborn, and
obsessive compulsive. The main three characters all have their
obsessions. The father is obsessed with keeping his daughters safe, and
not pregnant. The younger sister is obsessed with being popular. The
older sister is obsessed with left leaning politics. How they relate to
one another is the interesting part of this show.
I really liked the father figure in 10 Things I hate about you Volume
One. He gets a little strange with things like a urine sample, and
breathalyzer when his daughters get home. He has their best interest at
heart, and he is very humorous. His points make a lot of sense. The love
interest of the older sister is an interesting character. He adds a
mystery to the show that will bring a lot of viewers back. 10 Things I
hate about you Volume One is for the older members of the family only. I
found some great comedy, and the character dynamics are improving.
