iCarly

My niece likes the iCarly television show on Nickelodeon. I was interested in the Wii game to see how good it was. Television based games have not had the best track record. In fact too often developers (editor: and publishers) throw something together with a known name on it. So I went into iCarly expecting the worst. Activision has surprised me with this Wii game. It is way more fun than I was expecting. It is a mini game compilation that does not feel like a mini game compilation.

The characters of the show look sort of like their real life counter parts. Do not expect realistic looking graphics out of this iCarly. There are a lot of great colors in this Wii game, especially on their little dance floor. There are mini games like keeping hands away from cookies or chips. The player uses things like a fly swatter or spray bottle to turn the hands away. There is also spraying characters in another mini game. A graffiti like game where the player throws paint, food, or other items on artwork or pictures of another character. I was not bothered by those kinds of mini games, but wanted to let all ya'll know they are there.

The sound bytes of the characters is very realistic, and has a lot of emotion. The kids talk about various topics. A conversation about who is hot was as far as this game went, and I saw no problem with it. Some of their sound bytes do get old after playing for an hour or so. Kids will enjoy the humor of iCarly. They will also get into the storyline included in this Wii game.

There is a lot of items that can be purchased in iCarly. The story can be completed in around an hour, which was a bit of a disappointment. The customization of being able to purchase additional items, and being able to create my very own webisode. This adds to the replay value of iCarly. Four players can compete in this game.

Webisodes are made up of eight mini games. All of these are easy to pick up and learn. There are also variations on each of these mini games in iCarly. I did find that after a few hours many of these got repetitive. Still they are way more fun than I was expecting. Some of the mini games are over very quickly, and others last longer.

I was very pleased to see how family friendly iCarly is. The storyline is where another kid is trying to ruin their web show. They stand up to him, and continue with their creativity. I would like to see a sequel to iCarly, especially if multiple storylines (editor: like TV shows) are included. It was to my benefit to be able to play and review iCarly on the Wii.
