World Championship Games

World Championship Games gets so many things right that I got a positive feeling after playing this Nintendo DS video game. Fourteen different events await players as they compete in various track and field events. The archery events are some of my personal favorites. Running the different sprint events brought me all the way back to high school track. World Championship Games allows us to win medals, and beat the world records in the hand held setting. This DS game is truly international by coming in various languages, and including various countries.

World Championship Games has some realistic colors from the different international stadiums. The characters models look sort of like humans. I honestly had trouble telling the difference between men and women in World Championship Games. A lot of effort was put into the outfits to exhibit what country the characters are from. The good news on the graphical front is Olympic style of clothing is not entering into the enticement to lust category. I spent most of my time concentrating on the bottom screen, and only noticed the character models in replays.

The music in World Championship Games fits the theme of the action. The instructions given before the variety of events really help understand the controls. I approve of how this DS game handles failures. It reports the statistics, and lets the player move on. No need to dwell on the lack of success or stick the players nose in it. World Championship Games is considerate of the player in that way.

The Game Factory included plenty of modes, and multiplayer options in World Championship Games. The various difficulty settings can keep players busy for weeks. If you can forgive the graphical details, then this Nintendo DS game is worth the money.

World Championship Games has great touch screen controls. The running events have the most intelligent controls I have ever seen. Certain other events like long jumping, and the high jump take a little more practice (editor: mainly in timing), and are not as easy to master. I had fun playing World Championship Games.

I like games that promote good sportsmanship, and this DS game reinforces that. Competitors do their best and leave it on the field. I would like to see this game succeed and for sequels to be released. Hardcore track and field gamers need to check out World Championship Games today.
