We Ski and Snowboard

We Ski was one of the great video games to be released on the Wii. Namco Bandai made sure it was approachable by all ages, and skill sets. The only thing I wanted out of that game was snowboarding. I snowboarded in the Cascades for years, and have always had a soft spot in my heart for that particular winter activity. Namco Bandai has proven they listen to Family Friendly Gaming with the sequel We Ski & Snowboard. They took everything that was good from We Ski, and then added in snowboarding. Technically they have added more stuff, but we will get to that. This Wii game is playable via the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, or the Wii Balance Board with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. I have to admit the inclusion of the Wii Balance Board is another facet that makes We Ski & Snowboard an instant classic.

We Ski & Snowboard is one of the most realistic winter resort simulators I have run across. The masterful design of this game allows for people to stay warm, and still enjoy the excitement of screaming down the slopes. No one gets hurt like we do in real life. I am one of those people that appreciate this kind of experimentation, since I retired from snowboarding due to the concussions. On top of that We Ski & Snowboard is a lot cheaper than renting or purchasing the gear, the lift ticket, chains for the vehicle, and all the hassle of getting cold and wet out on the slopes.

The graphics in We Ski & Snowboard are crisp, clear, clean, and refreshing. Too many snow games white out the player, but there are enough different colored objects to make this Wii game come alive on the television screen. Miis are playable, or avatars can be created. The avatars are very safe, and dressed in a realistic manner for the winter environment. The choice of all major age ranges is one of the reasons We Ski & Snowboard is approachable by all age groups. Accidents can happen, but no characters are seriously injured, and it is generally discouraged.

We Ski and Snowboard
The level of realism, and quality in We Ski & Snowboard in the audio department is fantastic. I love listening to announcements while on the ski lift, or being told something is in lost and found. We Ski & Snowboard is one of those games that the player can completely immerse themselves into. The music in the game is very upbeat, and I did not hear any offensive lyrics. Most of what I heard was techno with few words anyways. The alarm sound when bumping another snowboarder or skier works perfectly in my book.

How long can you play We Ski & Snowboard? As many hours as you can enjoy going down the slopes. Up to four players can compete in a variety of ways. There are also some hidden paths to keep an eye out for. I am amazed at how much content is included on this Wii disc. We Ski & Snowboard is worth your hard earned dollars.

I love the intelligent design to the controls of We Ski & Snowboard. Smooth is the word that comes to mind, and that applies to both control schemes. This Wii game flows perfectly and is a blast no matter what you are doing in it. We Ski & Snowboard is one of those video games that can improve people’s lives, and give them a little exercise while having fun.

Family Friendly Gaming asked for a sequel to We Ski, and we got it. We Ski & Snowboard is the perfect sequel that expands upon a really good game, and it reaches the next level. We Ski & Snowboard earns the Family Friendly Gaming seal of approval (1%-2% of all products reviewed earn this award). I will be recommending We Ski & Snowboard to friends, family, and pastos that I know. See you on the slopes.
