We Cheer 2

I fondly remember We Cheer even though it had some problems. My memories of this cheerleader video game made me excited to hear about a sequel from Namco Bandai. Is We Cheer 2 a worthy sequel? Has Namco Bandai improved the game? Lord willing this review will answer those questions, and so many more. This Wii game is best played with two Wii Remotes per player. Four girls can get together and play We Cheer 2. There are male cheerleaders so the boys/men can also play if they like. Getting some men to play We Cheer 2 can be like pulling teeth though.

We Cheer 2 has a similar look and feel to it (editor: for those familiar with the original game). The special effects, and visual cues are really cool. We Cheer 2 contains a wide array of cheerleader costumes. Some are better than others. Most of them show off the girls legs, and some show off the midriff. There are sexually suggestive dance moves in this game. The ESRB caught this, so be sure to pay attention to the rating in this game.

We Cheer 2 contains some good songs in it. There are of course songs I was not fond of. We Cheer 2 has the player move to the beat in a way that is very apparent. We Cheer 2 starts out with a few songs, and more are unwrapped along the way (editor: thirty in total). One thing about the audio section that stuck out to me was the cheerleaders are not cheering. What I mean is they are not shouting out like they would in real life. The music plays, and they are dancing around - even at the end.

I really like the extras in We Cheer 2. There is a normal cheerleader game included, and a work out mode. Four players can get together and have fun playing this game. We Cheer 2 has a lot of different costumes that can be purchased along the way. The more songs the player successfully completes, the more points there are to be used to purchase extras. Girls will be kept busy by We Cheer 2 for weeks.

We Cheer 2 shows the player when and where to do which movements. Players start out in a very educational tutorial mode. All of the aspects of We Cheer 2 are explained, and the player gets to practice them as much as they need to. The controls work masterfully, and We Cheer 2 is very forgiving to the players. I had fun playing this game, especially to songs like "Mickey."

All in all I have a positive outcome from playing We Cheer 2. I wish the sexual element of this game was much lighter, and the lyrics of certain songs were not really needed. Girls can learn the basics of a cheer leader routine thanks to this Wii game. Coordination is another lesson that We Cheer 2 teaches. I am glad that Namco Bandai published this sequel. It is cool to see the exercise video game genre has taken hold.
