Wallace and Gromit Episode 4 The Bogey Man
SCORE: 84
Prepare for the Grand
Finale of TellTale Games Wallace and Gromit Grand Adventures series -
Episode 4: The Bogey Man. With Wallace and Gromit celebrating their 20th
Anniversary this year, The Bogey Man is a great way to wrap up the 4
episodic adventures of Wallace and Gromit.
After a surprise ending in episode 3, Muzzled!, Wallace finds himself in
an interesting predicament. In an effort to restore order Gromit helps
Wallace join the local Country Club, the Prickly Thicket. When Wallace
is admitted as a member, misfortune follows and a new adventure is ahead
for the endearing Wallace and Gromit.
The riddles in The Bogey Man will keep the even the most experienced
Wallace and Gromit gamers on there toes. As usual, there is the option
to change the hint level. The core puzzles to solve in this installment
are through a series of rhymes (which appear in various clues). The
humor of the first two episodes returns in The Bogey Man. It was
entertaining to watch the interaction between the various characters.
The presentation is consistent with the first 3 episodes and will
provide the gamers a smooth transition.
One item to mention with The Bogey Man, as compared to the previous
installments, was some issues with gameplay. In several instances
through town if a certain item was selected to use (i.e. clue finder)
the character would automatically go back to a certain location in town
in order for the cut scene to work. The character would then have to
walk all the way back across town to get to their original location.
This is no huge flaw, but one that could have been corrected.
Overall, I think The Bogey is a great way to wrap up the Grand
Adventures series. As mentioned in previous reviews, TellTale Games has
released individual episodes of Wallace and Gromit Grand Adventures
separately so they can be purchased for $8.95. The option of buying the
entire series for $34.95 is also available.
The Grand Adventure games are fantastic for promoting problem solving
skills. These games can be enjoyed with the entire family and can
provide comedic moments to share together.
