Treasure Blind

I have been blessed to see a lot of movies in my life. Treasure Blind is one of the few movies that has brought tears to my eyes. This movie is amazingly depressing at the beginning. Actually it goes beyond the beginning as it takes nearly until the end for things to start to get better. If you have ever thought your life could not get any worse, then this movie will give you a lot of perspective. We humans complain about certain facets of our lives, yet there are people in way worse shape than we are. An unhappy cabbie who can barely hold his job, gets a blind grandson dropped off at his doorstep. This man has one goal, and that is to find a Civil War treasure.

There are a few visuals to warn ya'll about. The movie has some thugs in it who beat down and bloody a man. They also choke two characters, and are generally threatening most of the time. They want money that was lost in gambling, and will get the money or take it out on nearby relatives. The Civil War scenes were an interesting touch.

Treasure Blind has a lot of bad attitudes, and poor choices. Thankfully things do turn around in the end of the movie, but I was emotionally spent when we finally did get there. The music fit the theme of the film, and is also depressing until the end. There are a lot of important concepts in Treasure Blind that include family, disabilities, and doing the right thing.

Cloud Ten Pictures did a good job with the extras. Learning about the little blind boy in real life hit me hard. There are so many things that can go wrong in a child's life, and to see how he has coped with it is amazing. All of the behind the scenes material caught my eye, and held me until I was through all of it. I also like all of the movie trailers included on this DVD.

The menu screens in Treasure Blind function marvelously.  There was a rare one here or there that it was difficult to read the text because of the font, or color choices. Aside from those there is a definite intelligent design to all of these menu screens. The storyline in Treasure Blind had me rooting for the characters even though they were very flawed. None of us want to see someone murdered for a mistake, or not given the opportunity to make amends.

Treasure Blind caught me off guard. I was expecting one thing, and it delivered something different. Is this movie worth the time? Most definitely. I do want to warn you that the majority of this movie is pretty depressing. Thankfully there was light at the end of the tunnel, and it was not another train coming.
