Train Master
SCORE: 82
Train Master is one of those movies that starts really slow. Viewers that take the time to wait for it are amply rewarded. This movie follows a train mechanic who knows a lot about trains. He entertains his grandchildren with his impressive array of model trains. They also spend time at a local (in the beautiful state of Oregon) small train depot where they take train rides. A city slicker from New York wants to show his father that he can achieve success in the railroad business and he buys the Train Master’s railroad company. Things get interesting in this movie when the city slicker fires the Train Master. The city slicker’s son, and the Train Master’s grand children get together on a train that becomes a run away.
The Train Master has some great shots of trains, and tracks in the wilderness. All of the characters dress appropriately. There is some intense conflict but it never enters into physical violence. The SWAT team member that takes damage winds up getting up. The WMG did not see any offensive images while watching this DVD.
The music in Train Master can be a little bland at times, but others it kicks in and assists with the flow of this movie. The dialog is great, and I loved the acting in Train Master. The children break into different places against the wishes of adults, and wind up paying the price for it. Parental concern is shown in a genuine fashion on this DVD as well.
Family Friendly Gaming received an early screener of Train Master, so we hope the retail release includes some special features. The screener did not contain any extra content, so this is one area the WMG hopes is improved in the retail release. The movie is interesting enough to be watched more than once. The WMG does feel this movie is worth the price of admission.
The menu screens on Train Master exhibit an intelligent design. The flow of this movie does start out slow, and takes awhile to get going. The WMG tried different age groups with Train Master, and the younger ones expected a faster pace. The WMG likes the movie, especially the lessons contained.
What a nice segway if the
WMG says so. Train Master contains a lesson about not throwing away the
experienced (elderly) just because of the cost. The city slicker makes
business decisions on cost and it is not a wise strategy. This is the
kind of movie this reviewer would like to see a sequel to. The WMG will
be recommending the Train Master DVD to friends, family, and local
pastors.
